I upgraded my Photoshop to CC 2017 today and since the upgrade it has been very very slow. When I click on File menu the dropdown menu appears like after 3-4 seconds. When I delete layer it take about 10 second. Zoom in and out are terribly slow. I work on Photoshop everyday hope to get the problem resolve as soon as possible.

Glad it has improved for you. Actually anyone can create an account to use this forum, there is no insistence on owning any of the products. In fact the account I am using right now is one I created originally just for forum use and is separate from my actual Creative Cloud account. If you come to the forum through any of the programs though it will log you in using your actual login ID and password.

Perhaps I should say in my earlier comment about piracy that I didn't intend to imply people in this thread are likely to be using hacked copies, but it does happen, I know because some people actually admit their copy is a pirate when you attempt to help them. Very honest , but probably not the wisest thing to do on a forum being operated by the company you are stealing from lol

Looking at your Task Manager I can't see anything wrong as you have plenty of CPU capacity available and memory to spare, which makes me wonder if this is disk related. Is the indicator for HD activity permanently on? If you go into the Resource Monitor-it's the button at the bottom of the Task Manager window-and click on the 'Disk' tab you'll get a comprehensive report of what the HD is doing. Click the 'Write' tab to bring to the top the process doing the most write operations to the disk -if you could post a screen cap here.

What happens if you switch your machine on and just leave it for 30 minutes to stabilize and then start Photoshop? Also if you have an SSD what drive letter is it using.? Are you using multiple monitors? Do you have more than one graphics cards or chips in your computer? Also are other apps on your computer running slow during this time?

I'm using Windows 10 and do find an abnormal amount of disk activity connected with Adobe processes on starting the PC-disk activity can be close to 100% for up to 10 minutes. I just leave the computer to stabilize before starting Photoshop and after that Photoshop operates fine. If you look at my post above from 11th Nov I describe which Adobe processes to turn off as startup processes and in my case the computer disk activity is normal after a minute or two following startup-might be worth trying that.

No offense Terri, but why do we as users have to do the legwork for Adobe? They have released a buggy version of a piece of software used by millions of people many of whom are experiencing issues solely with the upgrade. It sounds in almost all cases that everything was fine until 2017 was installed. Once installed errors became evident. I personally do not have time to trouble shoot for Adobe and am not being paid as a QA resource. Bottom line is Adobe needs to make a fix and soon.

Why CC 2017 has been released in 2016? Maybe Adobe should release it in 2017 as name says, but... without bugs, based on high quality code. Maybe then applications would run smooth and "light" without any issues?

People need fast software for productive work. When Photoshop was stand alone application I paid for perfect software and it was almost perfect as CS6 version. Now I pay every month for buggy software in cloud subscripction. Sad but true.

And one more thing... behind your backs Affinity is releasing good piece of software, running fast and smooth. They've leart a lot from Adobe in creating applications, but now I have to say that Adobe may learn something form Affinity. After a half year of beta tests Windows application runs almost perfectly. If there was full PSD compability in Affinity and support of smart objects (they're still working on it) I would definitely choose Afiinity than Adobe in current situation.

No offence taken. You are of course right, customers should not have to do anything to make their software work properly, but bugs-I would say in this case system conflicts are inevitable in any software. If this problem affected every Photoshop user then it would be much easier to fix, but as it is, the company needs to sieve through so many different permutations to build a representative model of what is going wrong. It also doesn't help that some of the reported problems with CC2017 are coming from users with hacked copies -I now know of two so called bugs that are down to the crack disabling components. Of course when someone reports a problem here we have no way of knowing if the OP has a cracked version or not and it just adds to the confusion.

I hate to say this, but time is money, and so maybe some of the people in this thread should consider reinstalling CC2015.1.2 Under your subscription you can download and install copies of Photoshop going back as far as the CC version of CS6. They all will work on the system without interference, but only one at a time.

My initial action was to revert to a previous version. Unfortunately the update took that option away and the only software available for me to revert to is Flash! I have chatted with Adobe tech support and after 60 minutes of chat, their response was I shouldn't be opening a file over a corporate network, it should be local! Well have have worked with Photoshop for close to 20 years and gone through numerous updates, versions, etc. None of these were this bad and never did I hear networking wasn't supported.

I also tried out the theory about the network issue by trying to open a 125 k file from my desktop. Took 20 minutes! I have never had this issue before and nothing has changed on my corporate desktop. This thing is locked down and we were given the Cloud to make sure we could keep up to the latest versions without having IT go through their typical approval process. This is the only update that has caused problems! And for the record, we are completely legal as far as our licenses go (we are an insurance company)!

4) You'll get a popup with all the previous versions of Photoshop previously available. You can install as many as you want. I have CS6, 2015.5 and 2017 for example. If I recall with some of the earlier ones you then need to download updates. Anyhow it's all pretty easy. If you are using a SSD I would suggest not putting the older versions there simply due to the fact SSD's tend to be quite expensive per MB of storage, but it's up to you.

Photoshop was never designed for networking. I imagine if it were written today it would be. The issue with networks is fairly well reported in other threads here and seems to be permissions related. Try making your network share have 'Everyone' permission with full control and similarly full permission at the file level. I suspect it will work better in a 'workgroup' environment rather than an Active Directory or equivalent.

Can I again say I did not intend to suggest you folks here have illegal copies-as that will put you off posting if you feel your not trusted and I and certainly Adobe don't want that. I was trying to highlight the problems that can occur when troubleshooting problems but probably went into too much detail.

Intel graphics are built-into the i series chipsets on many (maybe all) recent PCs, you get to assign one processor to each application. Same for me here and I've tried all permutations. PS runs predictably better with the nVidia but doesn't seem to alter the UI problems which processor is used.

Add me to the list of customers completely pissed about this pitiful "update." Do you nitwits do any testing at all before releasing these disasters? Everything slow. Brushes slow, any blurs slow, anything I do slow slow slow. And no I don't have other programs running in the background. Utilization sits at 1-2% while not doing anything in photoshop, then as soon as I do, jumps up to about 40% and stays there for the 30 seconds or so it takes to do whatever the task it.

My 2 cents. I purchased Photoshop CC 2017 a week ago. This is the first version of PS I have ever installed. I am trying to edit a video and it is torture. This screenshot was taken while PS was running the video:

Not state of the art (not multi-core) but otherwise meets the published specs. I haven't rebooted this much in years. My scratch disc and file source disk are different. I have 13 GB available on my primary drive (SSD) and 666 GB free on my storage drive (HDD).

I would try and get the last version. Not sure how that looks on a Windows machine from the Adobe app menu. Clearly, this version was not well-tested before release. Both PC and Mac users have been having significant issues.

I am mostly concerned about all this CEPHtmlEngine in our running tasks, this has been a problem before for Adobe when the previous version was new. I will guess it's all about connecting to the Adobe Stock from within our app panels.

Clicking on any of the coloured blocks will highlight what is using that space in the top left pane. All of those red blocks in that vertical stack are my recycle bin. Note that items appear in the top left pane in order of size (largest first) so you can also use the folder tree to home in on drive hungry data.

Turn off Hybernate. I hate it with Windows as it has a habit of crashing when you wake up your system. Note I am arbitrarily using guides I found on Google, so do your own search if mine turns out to be bad.

Some sites I have seen suggest using Piriform's CCleaner, but I strongly advise not to unless you really know what you are doing, and then still don't use it. I expect other folk will say it is great. You can use the System Cleanup if you feel the need to, but you can hopefully save enough space other ways.

If you have ever used the C: drive as Photoshop scratch space, look for orphaned 'Photoshop temp' in the root directory. Anything without today's date on can be deleted. As you can see from my screen shot, I had a few myself!

Wow you are on top form today Trevor, there is a lot of great information there. I fully endorse what you said about WinDirStat-one of the very best free utilities available on Windows. When you first open it it looks very complicated but you quickly realise it is insanely logical.
