I'm available on 4/28 at 10:00 a.m. and have saved the date. Let me
know if it changes.
I am sorry I
have not been involved in the meetings in which direct reports have been
given. However, my thought is to ask Don what he would suggest for
advocacy as I can only assume that he wants Section 8 vouchers to flow - and
perhaps at the HSHC meetings he has already been asked how we can best
advocate???? And that is????
I shall await what came out of the BCWAC
meeting this am in terms of suggested ways to proceed. I just think we
need to "press" Don in terms of advocacy - and that may not happen at the HSHC
meeting since it seemed to be a report in - not action out meeting. (and it may
have matured in ways I do not know)
Susan

Subject: RE: Bucks
County Women Advocacy Housing Committee meeting: April 28th 10am at Bucks
County Housing Group
Hi Susan. Don Grondahl was at the last Housing Coalition Meeting in
March and he reported to us directly that there weren't any funding for
vouchers right now nor in the foreseeable future.
We spoke a bit at today's BWAC meeting about strategies that could be
suggested around the design of the section 8 program in Bucks County and ways
that we could recommend more structural efficiency to allow a flow of some
vouchers in the system, esp. in case additional funding does not become
available. My thoughts are that we should process this issue and do some
research before inviting Don Grondahl to meet with us. At this juncture,
I'm sure he will just report the same information he reported at the Housing
Coalition Meeting. What were your thoughts around the purpose of meeting
with him straightaway? I don't see how this group is replicating the
efforts of the Housing Coalition since the Coalition isn't doing advocacy right
now. Can you elaborate around your concerns?
Thanks for the dialogue,
Alison

Hi
Alison,
First, I am not sure if I can make the April 28th meeting but I
shall try to be there.
Have you thought about inviting Don Grondahl to
the meeting since the Section 8 Voucher concern is high on your list of agenda
items? And has this not been brought up at the Human Services Housing
Coalition meetings? I have not been attending these meetings as of late but , as
you know, I do not want this committee to only duplicate what that meeting is
doing.
Peace,
Susan

Subject: Bucks County
Women Advocacy Housing Committee meeting: April 28th 10am at Bucks County
Housing Group
Dear Collegues,
The Next Housing Committee Meeting will be on Tuesday,
April 28th at 10am at the Housing Group (see address in my signature
below). Please let me know if you can make it. If you can't, any ideas or
thoughts you would like to share please let me know. Another issue that I
would like to discuss at the meeting on the 28th is Section 8 vouchers not being
released at this time and the tremendous impact the lack of access to vouchers
in Bucks County will have on low income women in the county.
As I mentioned in the email below, we are looking for a
new person to take the lead with this commitee. I stay commited as a
member, but I am looking to step back from taking the lead with the housing
committee.
Thanks,
Alison

Good
Evening,
Attached are the
meeting notes for the February BWAC Housing Committee meeting. Please let
me know if any corrections/additions are needed. We are very much in need
of recruiting some active members, so please let me know if you have
recommendations. I'm also sorry to report that due to being over
committed, I am stepping down as chair. If you or anyone you know would
like to consider chairing the housing committee, please let Kathleen Beveridge
and I know. I will stay on until we have a new
volunteer.
Please review the
draft statement in the attached document and feel free to give honest
feedback. Ideally, we'd like to have a statement ready in time for the
April 7th BWAC meeting.
Please also respond
if you have feedback on the draft goals. Once the goals are finalized we will
need to plan out action steps, timeline and responsibilities, but I'm thinking
we need to broaden our base and finalize leadership for the group first.
We will need to set
a meeting date for April. Here are some recommendations: April 28th
(anytime) or the April 29th (morning). Please let me know your
availability. Joyce Sacco and Kevin Douglas from the Housing Alliance
would like to attend one of our meetings and I believe Tuesday's work for you
both? If these dates don't work I can propose others.
Thanks,
Alison
