Hi all,
Recently (sat) I was approached by Net-fi folks asking to seek permission about OFC cabling for Net-fi internet.
What he said that the wireless connections will be improved upon by doing so. He also said that after the OFC cabling he will be able to provide landlines etc
I asked him if he had a map/plan for laying to which he answered 'no'
I told him I will get back to him for the following reasons:

1) I do not have any idea for the OFC plans of BSNL or the Builder for intercom etc
2) I am not sure if laying this cable will affect/interfere in any way with BSNL's plans if any.
3) In the long run, most of us, would want BSNL broadband/Landline
4) I am not sure why the builder not gave the permission to Net-Fi and sent him to the committee and I fear something more sinister or implicating here.
5) I have a slight doubt that perhaps laying this cable, the builder might use this for the intercom/CCTV or what?

I do not mind having Net-Fi as an added option for internet/Landline but I WOULD NOT WANT our intercom and other facilities to be entwined with any private company.
I am not 100% happy with Net-Fi's level of service and support either, and the pricing thereof.

If anyone has any more idea on this, please share.
Thanks,
Niraj

Hi Salai,
I understand that we should have multiple options..
My point is that does installing OFC from Net-Fi limit our ability to install other OFCs in the future..
If the answer is 'No' then I would like to go ahead with Net-FI because:
If given a nod they will start the work within the next week
and we can never be sure when the other players will surface.
And I can assure you that Landline is much awaited as Net-Fi will offer Airtel Landline..

Also afaik whatever Net-Fi is doing does not involve any cost to us.

Hello Niraj,

Thanks for the note.  I think we should call and discuss with multiple vendors and look at all our requirement and cost options.  I agree with you that BSNL would be the ideal approach... but lets not limit just to it.. I propose we discuss with multiple vendors with our requirement / cost /service and decide on the permanent solution.

-Internet
-Intercom
-CCTV
-IP tv  possibilities

Lets discuss this in detail , look at option , stability, service and timeline perspective and take decision.

Thanks,
Salai.
