I played Aion on release with some friends and quit after a month or two because leveling took way too damn long. By the time your level reaches the mid 30's it starts taking 5+ hours of hard grinding to get a single level. My friends and I returned during a later patch (I think 1.9 or 2.0) when quest exp was drastically increased to speed up leveling, and from then on Aion was my favorite MMO by far.

When classic was announced and neared release, a few Q&A's about Aion Classic said that NCsoft was aware that original Aion lost a large portion of their player base due to the extreme grind required to level and that in Aion Classic they were going to fix this issue, yet they didn't. The current leveling speed of Aion Classic is the same as it was at release of original Aion. Quests give abysmal exp and there's very frequent periods where all quests/campaigns are completed and you have no option but to grind mobs for 1-2 levels at a time.

I don't think the leveling rate should be like it was in 4.0 where you could make a new character and get it to 50+ in 2 days, but I also don't think the current leveling speed is reasonable. I think the leveling speed of the 2.x patches was perfect. It wasn't fast per say, but it wasn't mind-numbingly slow like it is now. It was just the right balance of progression for the amount of time and effort you had to put in.

When NCsoft said they were fixing the slow leveling problem, I was fully expecting to come in to Aion Classic with the leveling rates of the 2.x patches, where the longest any single level took was around 3 hours of grinding from level 49-50, not grinding for 10-12 hours a day just to get 2 levels, or sometimes even less than that.

after that if you are able to do it, solo or duo fire temple until level 35, if not, make quests in morheim until level 35, when you reach level 35 solo Alquimia research centre or azoturan fortres for elyos, alquimia is way easier and you should be able to fully clean it in solo and reach atleast level 39, then you can make kromede's trial and reach level 40, at level 40 solo duo steel rake and continue making kromede's trial and alquimia research center until 45, at level 45 make campaing quest from brusthonin and when you finish them just solo or duo adma stronghold until level 50 or 51, whatever your prefer, then make quest to reach gelkmaros, at the time you reach gelkmaros you can make quests to reach lvl 52 and half or enter udas temple and lower udas temple in solo or duo until level 53, if you leveled until 52 and half, just make greater stigma opening quest and you should reach level 53 if you make campaing quest at same time, then there are two ways, Solo or duo beshmundir temple or making repeteable mithril coin quest, with thos two ways you should be able to reach level 62 or 63 easy, (Beshmundir is way faster), at time you reach level 62 or 63 just make Katalam and Danaria camps weeklys and normal quests, at time you make campaing quests, then you should reach atleast level 64 and half or 65, if you didn't reach level 65 yet, you can finish leveling part with the mithril coin quest again, is way bored but effective, i leveled up a character form 51 to 65 in two days playing like 5h per day, wichs are 10h to level 14levels +-, and that should be all

Tip: Verteron leveling is a fairly straight forward themepark MMO experience, you basically complete the quests in your area and then move around in a clockwise direction to the next area when done. There is no PVP on this map at all so it's a good idea to stay and milk it until it's not worth the XP anymore.

Aesthetically, I greatly prefer hooded nibs, and perhaps it is because I was born just after the second world war that my father's Parker 51 represents the ne plus ultra in that department. I see the Lamy 2000 as a worthy and successful development of the Parker 51 concept and love using them. The only thing I do not like about it is its girth. The only ball point pen I find comfortable in my hand is the Papermate Profile, which has a maximum diameter of just over 8mm, and the Lamy aion is a pen that looks similar to the Papermate to me. I am considering trying one; but I find many off-putting reviews.

I went to the page on the Lamy website describing the aion and discovered that the green version is only sold with EF, F, and M nibs. Why no broad nib with this pen in this colour? Select the black version and a broad nib is available. But I find black boring, and the green aion really looks much cooler...

Aion's weekly Ask Kinslon interview column is back after a short hiatus. Aquilanius, NCSoft's Daeva of Journalism, has a few questions for producer Chris 'Kinslon' Hager, focused on the Energy of Repose and Energy of Salvation mechanics coming with the 1.9 patch next month.

The new systems appear to be designed to ease the leveling process, which has been a frequent complaint of Aion customers since the title launched last fall. "Energy of Salvation is for players who are leveling more slowly than other players of the same level. You can gain Energy of Salvation starting at level 15. It is intended for casual players, or players that really enjoy exploring and pursuing interests in game that don't drive directly toward leveling as fast as possible. It's also meant for people who get distracted by shiny things instead of leveling," Hager says.

Check out the full interview over at the official Aion web site.

When you come to Akarios Village bind yourself to the Obelisk in the village to easily return back to this location in the future.
The next step is to find your class trainer. Purchase all the skillbooks you can.
If you have enough Kinah find the Weapons and Armor sellers and check for upgrades. Buy bandages and potions it will speed up your leveling.
If you have manastones apply them on your weapon or equipped items.

NCSoft has a bunch of new things planned for the North American version of Aion with the release of the Wrath of the Storm update next week. The update will introduce a handful of new instances along with adjustments to existing ones, and improvements to the leveling curve.

Wrath of the Storm is set to roll out on September 28th and will open up three new dungeons: the Araka, Unyielding Beshmundir Temple, and Abyssal Splinter. The update will also revamp the Nochsana Training Camp and Steel Rake and turn them into solo dungeons to give lone wolves more leveling options.

On the subject of leveling, XP gains will also be increased for mission quests, and level 51+ missions, while missions for players level 50 and below will be getting an overhaul. Level requirements for below 50 missions will also adjusted. Players will also be getting access to a new gear set loadout feature that will make it easier to swap out their gear on the fly to adapt to battle conditions.
