Hibuddj83 ! Looks like you and I are left in the cold. HOWEVER, I did discover a workaround that has helped: Below the ribbon at the top is a beige band that states, "Security Warning..."Enable Content" -- Once I clicked "Enable Content", and REDID the link...that seem to work. I don't know if that's a permanent solution...but hope it helps.
Thankfully, I was able to create a Microsoft 365 and PowerApps Savant to assist me in situations like these. I have decided to forego the IMAGE() formula based on the response received from ChatGPT. Currently I run a VBA code to insert and embed the images as an object and it works perfectly for my needs. Here is the response I received from the Savant:
"The #BLOCKED! error message in Excel indicates that the image could not be loaded due to security settings or network restrictions. This error message is usually caused by the security settings of your computer or network, which might be blocking the image from being loaded.
It is worth noting that using the IMAGE() formula to insert images in Excel can cause the file size to become large, which can slow down the performance of the workbook. It is generally recommended to use other methods, such as inserting images directly into the worksheet or linking to external image files, to avoid this issue."
@buddj83 I struggled with for hours as the MS help was useless. In my case the #BLOCKED! error was, *I think*, caused by the fact I was working offline. I managed to solve it by logging into the online version of Excel and trying the same =IMAGE() function and I got an option to allow images. Then when I went back to the desktop client I had the beige band @ZShark mentioned.
I just came across this problem myself. For my the issue was the image URL I was trying to pull from used http, rather than https. Using a quick SUBSTITUTE formula, I changed them all over the https and excel removed the block and my pictures pulled through.
The only way I've found around this is to type something in the Bing search box and hit the magnifier icon to search. when it errors with the following error box, then you hit "Work Offline" button and it will give you explorer view of your local drive.
@Tim_Harden It seems that Microsoft has made the issue even worse, because when I try to add or replace an image that is in the header, I no longer get the box shown in the first screenshot, I get the following box with error:
When I click the "From a File" it actually opened the file exploder and when I clicked on OneDrive, it opened that as well. None of my users have said anything about it working so if they fixed it in the updates, I was not aware of it. I'll have to reach out to my power users and see if they are still having the issue.
If you are having the issue, try checking for updates and a reboot. I keep our company about 30 days behind the MS patch cycle to give time for fixing any undocumented features that might be present in their patches. So we are not on the most recent patch currently. If I and my users are working, I might think if you patch, it should help you also.
@antonebaioni (First time user here). I have a similar issue, and tried the above workarounds, but even worse I do not even get a time out or offline option, the insert pop up remains completely blank (Snip below). Have I a setting that has prevented Excel from looking up on my SharePoint or local drive I wonder?
I am currently experiencing the same problem - when I click to insert a picture I get the Bad Request message. This happens when I try to insert a picture into the header of older files as well as when starting a brand new Excel document! Has there been report of any fix by Microsoft (and I mean a real fix to the Excel program not a workaround)?
@Angus_nz every day something new & strange in technology! Today I was able to finally insert a picture the "right" way - although the window to select to browse to the location of the image was a bit odd looking.
I am trying to create a standard reporting tool using Knime that will take some data and export an Excel workbook with formatting and required data. I am wanting to add images into the sheets as either a logo at the top, and important graphs that add detail to the report.
I am not aware of any modules that ship with stock Fiji / ImageJ
that can read from an excel file. I doubt that there are any. You
can find python and java code that can read from excel (so you
could write a jython (python) script or java plugin), but, in my past
experience, these kinds of things tend to be imperfect.
Thanks so much for your kind and quick response. I have not worker with .csv file before.
Can Fiji easily import from .csv? Let me explain what I need to be imported. I have x and y of many images that x and y show the edges of the specific image. I have to run a piece of code to do some steps and import each x and y of a image do specific analyzes and export to an excel file. Can csv file work in this context?
Each line is a row of data, and the data items in each column are
separated by commas. If you had an excel spreadsheet that
contained four rows and two columns consisting of the above
data, this is (more or less) what you would get if you exported
it from excel as a .csv file.
Export a (small) table of number from excel as a .csv file.
Open that file in a text editor (e.g., notepad) just to see what it
looks like.
Write an ImageJ script in the scripting language of your choice
(e.g., jython), that opens that file and reads in the numbers.
Write the numbers to the Log window just to make sure you got
them right.
I am trying to build an experiment that uses images that are pre-determined from an Excel file. So in the experiment, there will be two images that are seen one after another(image 1 - 500 ms, ISI - 100 ms, image 2 - 500ms). In total, there will be around 40 images so I do not want to have to manually define each image stimuli in the Builder. I would like to be able to use an Excel file and have the code randomly select the image. I have attached screenshots of how the Builder looks and how I have things programmed.
