Hi Guys,
One of the users of my pennytel app has been talking to me about an issue over whirlpool.  Through my trying to identify the issue with him I have discovered that his smartdial does not seem to really sync.  It says it synced ok but on the website the new numbers have not been inserted into his smartdial listing.  Also clearing the listing meant no numbers were inserted at all.  Could some of you please add a fake contact or 2 and try to sync to see if you are having the same issue? I need to work out if this is wide spread or not.

Regards

Chris

I just bought a Samsung Galaxy S and installed the Pennytel app on
it. The smartdial sync appears to have worked successfully. I now
have approx. 290 smartdial numbers listed in Pennytel online account.

I then created a fake contact (in gmail) with a fake mobile phone
number. Synced again. Online Pennytel account shows new fake mobile
number with a smartdial number. All good.

Is this issue for first time syncs? Or for new contacts added after
the first sync? Either way I had no issues.

Regards
Justin

Thanks for the feedback.
If your smartdial is syncing correctly then you should be fine.  The issue is caused by the app using an old API from pennytel.  The newer version take the number of the phone the smartdial setting is for eg your mobile number. The old api just defaults to the first number registered to make smartdial calls.  In some cases this seems to be incorrect.

I have still not had a chance to fix the code to fix this for everyone but hopefully i will have the time this week. If your smartdial works then it is all good but if anyone ends up calling someone else than who they expected this is likely the issue but it should be rare and limited to people that have multiple numbers enabled for smartdial.

Hi Chris,

On my Nexus Froyo 2.2:-
Loaded new patch x.21, had to uninstall and reinstall PT app.
Seems to be working ok so far.

Thanks from Rob

Thanks for the feedback.

I have released a new version of the app but it does not have too many changes apart from getting your mobile number. It was trying to use the newer pennytel API/web service but i use a special version of them that pennytel made for me and  they have not been updated.  Hopefully this week i will try to switch to another of the pennytel API's and see if I can fix the issues people are having and maybe upgrade the UI a little.

If i cause anything to fail on your phone can you let me know. If all goes well there may be a few releases over the next week or so.

Chris
