Hi all! Hope your week is off to a good start! My friend and RCF alum, Cindy Wee, wanted to spread word about a fundraiser for Arthur Halim. It would be greatly appreciated if you could read about his story and lift up any prayers.

We are trying to help Arthur Halim and his family cover the cost for the medical treatment. He goes to GCC but he is still a brother in Christ. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated. There are two ways to donate:

(1) Through Venmo by sending your donation to Cindy Wee (@cindy-wee)

(2) Through this Generosity fundraising page:https://www.generosity.com/…/arthur-s-recovery-f…/x/13586584

If possible, donations through Venmo are highly encouraged, since Generosity (as all other fundraising sites) charges a slight convenience fee.

Please confirm your venmo payment on this google doc:https://docs.google.com/…/1moSFVFhhQ9GbPwES1PEX4KWZ3a…/edit…

Arthur's Story:

Arthur is a student at the University of Pennsylvania who lives in Portland, OR. Right after turning 20 years old, he was diagnosed with high risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He was recovering from chemotherapy and an allogeneic bone marrow transplant. The total cost for treatment, medication, and the transplant is staggering; but we hope you can help his family persevere through the financial struggle and help him to focus mainly on his recovery.

While studying abroad in Santiago, Chile, Arthur began developing swollen lymph nodes, bleeding (petechiae), and fatigue and was soon rushed to the ER to receive a necessary transfusion of platelets. After about a week, he was flown via air ambulance back home and began receiving treatment at the Oregon Health and Science University.

This past year he has gone through months of chemotherapy to achieve remission. His only reasonable option for survival was to receive a transplant and was fortunate enough to find an unrelated anonymous donor. In order to receive such an operation, Arthur had to experience additional intensive chemotherapy and total body radiation before he received his new bone marrow on February 10th.

After being discharged from the hospital, every day still remains a challenge, in regards to pain, nausea, and weakness, though he has been improving and getting his strength back. On May 21st, he passed 100 days post-transplant, which is a significant milestone in his recovery.

However, during the middle of this semester, Arthur went to get a pain in his leg checked out and unfortunately discovered that his cancer had returned. He is currently receiving treatment at CHOP with his parents by his side.

I really hope that we are able to hit our fundraising goal for Arthur. Even if you cannot donate, please keep Arthur and the Halim family in your prayers as they try to bounce back from this chapter of their lives.
