Okay, they may not be new, but yesterday was the first time I saw them.

New traffic lights are being installed at Penn and Friendship and Penn and Main.  Obviously preparing for Children's Hospital.  They were not working as of last night, still covered.  Just thought I would let everyone know.

Is there a Traffic study that is available for the entire Penn Avenue corridor that is available?  Or did UPMC do one only for the Children's Hospital area?

I'm betting plenty of people would like to see whatever study or studies
have been done. If anyone has a copy of these documents we can share, it
would be great to post them here on the group. You can either send them
to me, or post them directly via the website.

Thanks.

As part of the planning process, Children's Hospital was required to
preform a traffic study. Their study was to identify traffic impacts
created by the hospital and present a plan to mitigate those impacts
to the extent feasible. The mitigating measures are now being put in
place by Children's Hospital and include improvements that you are
seeing. Their study didnt include the whole corridor nor did it
require community input or enhancements to the corridor. It is
stictly a traffic related document. We have a copy of it at the City,
but not in digital format.

UPMC has a study.  I've seen it at meetings at the Hospital about what they are doing.  They have been very upfront with sharing information with the community.  They have continued to hold regular meetings to talk about neighborhood concerns and to share their plans for parking, traffic control, etc.

Like it or not, Childrens is going to bring alot of money, businesses, and people into the neighboring community.  Childrens is one of the main drivers of development on Penn.

I have no problem with Children's Hospital going in.  I was only wondering if there was information used for the site that we could also use for Penn Avenue as a whole to help target traffic light/stop sign issues.  There could then be support for the earlier post asking for more to be done from 40th to 34th Street when looking at priorities.

If any of the information was electronic can it be shared with this group?

Dear Jody,

How does one become informed of UPMC/Childrens' meetings with the
community? I am a member of the Board of the Bloomfield-Garfield
Corporation, and I (and I'm sure others) would like to be informed and
involved.

Best,

Bill Cornell

We belong to Lawrenceville United and Penn-Main Business Group.  I can't remember which org I get invites from to Hospital meetings.  I'll pass on info for next meeting when I get it, Bill.
