Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 3, Verse 8)
Niyatan kuru karma tvam karma
Jyaayo hyakarmanaha
Shariryaatraapi cha te na
Prasiddhyed karmanaha
You perform your allotted duty, for action is superior to inaction. And even maintenance of the body would not be possible for you by inaction.

Looking Inward: HSC/YJA's Weekly Spiritual Spotlight ॐ
Why do we chant Aum?
The sacred sound "Aum" contains powerful vibrations which can harmonize the body and the mind. It calms the mind and replaces anxiety and restlessness with a greater sense of peace and well-being. And when chanted in a group, this sound becomes even more powerful with pronounced effects. The Vedas and Upanishads speak of a Divine vibration which pervades the entire Universe and chanting Aum allows us to experience that Presence within ourselves. All matter vibrates at its own frequency, and the ancient scriptures understood how powerful sound could be for healing and growth. One must learn the proper way of chanting Aum to fully receive the benefits of it. Closing the eyes, we must bring the sound from the depths of stomach, up to our chest, then to our throat, to the top of the head, and then lastly to the mouth where we let go of the sound. If you would like to listen to Aum being
chanted or would like to meditate to the sound, please see the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Jwoeb4AsFk
