QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 2, Verse 27)

Jatasya hi dhruvo mrtyur

Dhruvam janma mrtyasa ca

Tasmad apariharye 'rthe

Na tvam socitum arhasi

For one who has taken birth, death is a certainty. And for one who is dead, birth is also a certainty. Therefore, in the matter of the inevitable and in the execution of your duty, there is no reason for you to be sorrowful or despondent.

Looking Inward ॐ

Why do we say Namaste?

We often say "Namaste" as a common form of greeting. However, very few are truly aware of its significance and deeply spiritual meaning. The gesture involves placing your palms together at your heart center, closing your eyes briefly, and bowing your head to the person that you are addressing. The action of Namaskar, or great salutation, is a way of silently saying, "I recognize and adore that shining Divinity which is present in you and is also present in me." The act of Namaskar comes from the heart and directly reaches the heart of the person that you are addressing, allowing for a beautiful connection of spirit.

Next time we exchange "Namaste" with a person, let us resolve to make the act meaningful. Closing our eyes, let us genuinely bow our head and remember the God-nature in all of us.
