Got my system 4 Midea air-con about 5years back. Only has been using 1 of the split unit for my little master bedroom regularly and another once a blue moon for child's bedroom. The other 2 units has not been on for more than 3 times since installation.

Has been also been spending $$$ performing regular maintenance diligently by Midea and yet has several continuous major hardware issues that involves the piping that requires regular gas top up, having to change the main controller PCB twice after 2 year warranty ends and now asking me to change whole compressor unit which they quoted $1400 for a down sized 28000BTU compressor (as they mentioned that the 32000BTU unit is no longer in production)as it has totally failed.

The technical phone support feedbacked that their 28000BTU is equivalent to the 32000 BTU compressor - irregardless of room size and usage???.

Really pissed as have been feeling like i have been blackmailed... My advice is avoid if you have a choice...

One of the reason midea is not recommended is that parts can be hard to find and an indent period of 4-8 weeks happens base on our experience.

Just install sys 4 midea back in early march 2018 but there was a discharge of green coming from the condenser outdoor unit. Have already inform Midea but the technician told me its normal. I seriosly don't understand his meaning of normal. If its little bit of water i would have umderstand. But green in colour and also stain the flooring, is that normal.

Yah... I do think luck plays a part. Mine still working well. I think proper installation of piping is important. I also used Mitsubishi Heavy Industry and worked well for me for the last 5 years. And never even serviced before! I've heard horror stories about MHI too so it can be a hit or miss... Call myself lucky with my purchases.

What kind of update? So far another 2 more months been using Midea Opal system 2 inverter 4 ticks for 2 years. so far so good only downside is the compressor outside unit will have water as mention above comments. Same thing call the installer and told me it is normal. So eventually i will ask them to service my compressor and clear the water for me can clean my aircon ledge. near to 2 yrs still aircon very cold. No issue. Materbedroom everynight 12hrs on.

Mine bought from courts woodlands model MSEID-90x2 last 30th April 2023 with 2 plus 4 years warranty. Now it has a problem. There is a loud squeaking noise coming out from the compressor. I suspect its from the fan. Waiting for the service man to come on 16th March 2024. Just less than a year already have problem. Only used it 4-6hrs daily on 24 deg setting. Next time I wont buy this brand again.
