Hi there,

I am delurking as I've just gotten a composter, and I'm wondering what to do for browns. We generate plenty of green kitchen waste, but our only tree and all our bushes are currently full of green leaves. I put what brown leaves I could scrounge up in the composter along with an old coffee filter and coffee grounds and all our dryer lint, but until our gardener comes and I can ask him to save clippings, now what? Any suggestions for getting started are welcome.

Thank you,
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca
The same thing happened to me last Summer and I had to buy straw bales
from the hardware store.
Sawdust is good, and floor sanders or carpenters would have heaps of
it, as long as it is untreated.
Paper and cardboard soaked in water are good also, if there is nothing
else around.
