Hey,

He is finally here ! Yes, after a lot of work achieved by the development team, Pencil 2.0 is now available for download.

The most amazing change concerns the support of dynamic connectors but there are much more in this version including totally new collections that will help you to design mobile applications for Android and IOS platforms.

Let's see what we have here:

  •  We display the menu bar and toolbar permanently for direct access. Note that toolbars could be shown/hided by a right-click on it.
  •  Added a new color toolbar
  •  Added a new line style toolbar
  •  Added the support of dynamic Connectors (!) including various styles like Straight connector, multi-segment connector and Curvy connector.
  •  Updated the common collection that provides more shapes e.g. Pie, Chord, Can, Cube, Bevel
  •  Added a new built-in flowchart collection
  •  Added a new built-in Android ICS collection
  •  Added a new built-in iOS collection
  •  Updated the collection pane style with fresh new colors
  •  Now supporting fullscreen mode
  •  Now supporting XRE 15
  •  Fixed a lot of bugs reported by the community

All the builds are immediately available here: http://code.google.com/p/evoluspencil/downloads/list
It means that you can download and install Pencil 2.0 on your favourite platform Windows, Mac, Linux or as a Firefox Add-on.

Last but not least, Fedora Project has just finished verifying Pencil and made it available in their official software repository so Fedora users can now install it via the package manager.

Happy sketching !

The Pencil Team

Where are the documents for the stencils?  I'm using 2.0 now and the Sketchy stencil ... but having a hard time formatting the table stencil.

2.0 is looking and working good so far ... nice job!!

Are you using the 32bit or 64bit version of Ubuntu?
You can check by running the Terminal application and typing "uname -a" if you see "x86_64" towards the end of the output of that command you are using 64bit version of ubuntu and so need the 64bit .deb file.

Just wanted to say thanks to every one on the Pencil team for such an awesome release!

Have been using it this morning (only just spotted that it was out) and it's simply great.
Every issue I had with the 1.3.4 has been fixed and the new dymanic connectors is really a killer feature for me, I can finally use pencil to make quick, easy diagrams of code components as well as the "traditional" use of making UI prototypes.

thanks again.

Maks,

Hello Amekare,

Thanks for the note. The 32bit package was indeed wrong. The new one has been made and uploaded. Please check it in the download section.

Best regards,
/an

Hello,

I just discovered this true gem, and the first thing I have to say is: Thank you, and congratulations to the whole team to developed a tool that I was looking for a long time.

The standalone 64bit deb archive install fine on Xubuntu 12.04.

The only defect is in the PDF export. Missing objects in the pages, probably those that have been copied from one page to another.

The team is she interested in a French translation? I can produce on my free time.

Best Regards

Paul

I just started to use Pencil on Mac. I've figured out how to use most of the tools except for the Multi-segment connector and the Curvy connector tools. I can't get them to create angled or curved lines. Could you provide instructions on how to use them? Thanks so much and great tool by the way.
