Hi all,

I just started using the software. I am not a code monkey or
programmer. My intention it to use it as a way to communicate GUI and
design ideas with web developers.

I've also recently discovered the 960 grid system (gs). http://960.gs

This tutorial helped me to understand and see the power of using the
960 gs for rapid design. - http://sixrevisions.com/web_design/the-960-grid-system-made-easy/

I was wondering if there is a way to set up 960 gs templates inside
Pencil??

I made hack. First I opened the Photoshop 960 gs 12 column template.
Photoshop showed the guides. I made a screen capture of the screen
(thus capturing the guides) and saved it as jpg and PNG files (since I
wasn't sure which format Pencil could handle).

I think dragged the jpg into Pencil and when clicked the dialog option
to resize the window to fit the content. I moved it to the background
and locked it in place. Now I have a template on which to work.

I then made boxes representing each column width as demonstrated in
the tutorial. This was more for me to more easily visual how boxes
fit. Here is the working template file in Pencil format -

My question: is there a better and easier way to set this up?? :-)

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the Pencil community ;-). The 960 grid system is available
in Pencil via the Sketchy GUI collection.
You could find it here: http://code.google.com/p/evoluspencil/downloads/list

I also made a template some time ago, but Google delete the 'file' section...

BTW, You template is cool, I keep it in my pencil folder ;-)
