Hello to all,
Is it possible to import images in a project ?
My need would be specifically to import a png page background.

Many thanks in advance !
Cyril

yes, sure !

You could use the "bitmap image" element from the "common shape" collection. Right-click on it and select "Actions" > "Load embedded image"

Hi, Frederic,

Could you explain how to do this? What/where is the "bitmap image" element and where is the "common shape" collection?

Thanks,

Leo

I accidentally deleted the bitmap image tool from my collections. How can i get this back? I even tried uninstalling the program and downloading, re-installing again, but the bitmap image tool is still missing. Help, please!

From an user experience perspective this makes absolutely no sense.

It really should just be double click "no image" or "right click < properties". Having it buried under actions makes no sense.

Hello,
I've verstion 2.0.6 and cannot see the options described below to import images via "bitmap image button". Has this been changed? How can I import images now?

Thanks !

You should be able to copy and paste them into pencil, or even click & drag from the desktop/file-manager.
The bitmap image still exists, it's under the "Common Shapes" collection.

You can you dropping a "Bitmap Image" stencil from the "Common Shapes" Collection onto your page.
Then right-click it to open the context-menu, go to the "Actions" submenu, choose either "Load Embedded Image" or "Load Linked Image".
You should then be able to select an image(I tested with PNG & JPG, but not on OSX).

Can I edit the embedded image after successfully opening it with Pencil?
Meaning dissect the whole image and move stuff around? This will be a neat trick for when an excising document needs to just be updated.

The proposed mechanism doesn't seem to work on 3.0.4 ! Has it changed since ?
I did add the Common Shapes : Bitmap Image. However neither double-clicking, nor right clicking on it, brings up anything called "properties".
I am indeed able just do a paste of any bitmap image on the clipboard. Is that the way how it is now meant to be ?

It actually works on 3.0.4.
  1. Just insert the BMP object on the canvas.
  2. Right click on it>Action>Select Image from File
  3. You're good to go!
