A litle while ago I was on Codeproject and came across a cool little tesxteditor and the whole form was made out of aero-glass, and the whole textbox was too. But I can't find it anymore. Does anybody know where it's gone? Or how I can make my Windows Form completely made out of Aero Glass?

So this time with the launch of Windows 7, Microsoft provides the Windows 7 API Code Pack. The Windows 7 API Code Pack not only just allows incorporating the aero glass effect, but many other features which will let you to work more conveniently with Windows 7.

I use Black Glass Enhanced (curiouso9.deviantart.com/art/Black-Glass-Enhanced-v0-5-156752713) with my black Windows 7 theme. Unfortunately, Windows Photo Viewer does not have any transparency like all my other specified programs. When Windows Photo Viewer executes, it runs as dllhost.exe, which is already on the list of programs to make transparent within Black Glass Enhanced. So I'm not sure why it isn't "glassifying" properly.

The first screenshot is Windows Photo Viewer; and the second is Windows 7 Gif Viewer (www.sevenforums.com/music-pictures-video/97830-windows-7-gif-viewer-works-perfectly.html), which is just Windows XP Photo Viewer transferred to Win7. Windows 7 Gif Viewer executes within rundll32.exe, which is also included in the list on Black Glass Enhanced. And as you can see, it is properly glassy.

I tried this method (superuser.com/questions/719867/how-to-change-the-background-color-in-windows-photo-viewer) to change the Photo Viewer background color manually, but changing it had no effect on transparency. Is there a DWORD value that can achieve this? Or remove the background block entirely and make it look like the Windows XP Photo Viewer?

Hello,
I installed Aero glass for windows 10 computer, 64 bit. Unfortunately, I also checked the "install Aero Glass Theme" box, not knowing that there were other custom themes I could use. I first installed it in my downloads folder. After that didn't work, I deleted the Aero Glass folder and installed it in my c drive, again with the same options. I think I deleted that folder from the C drive as well, although I might have uninstalled it via the control panel. However, the aero themes are still in the \resources\themes (Aero.theme and the aero folder). It seems that these still run at startup, since I can't delete them. Says I require permission from trusted installer to uninstall them. This is frustrating because I want to apply Aero 7 Themes for Windows 10. Trying to select these themes does nothing. I'm able to rename the \aero\ folder, but when I do, the computer is unable to boot (displays a flashing white screen), and I have to use system restore to go back to before I renamed that. I'm fairly certain that this is the cause, but it's possible that it's also because I installed uxstyle and uxtheme patcher for the current build of windows 10. Could someone please help me out here? I'm honestly out of ideas, and I'm probably going to have to reinstall Windows if nothing else works. That's a hassle I definitely do NOT want to go through.

Windows Aero (also stylized as Windows AERO, a backronym for Authentic, Energetic, Reflective, and Open)[1] is the design language introduced in the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system. The changes introduced by Windows Aero encompassed many elements of the Windows interface, with the introduction of a new visual style with an emphasis on animation, glass, and translucency; interface guidelines for phrasing and tone of instructions and other text in applications were available. New cursors and sounds based on Windows Aero design principles were also introduced.

On Windows Vista and Windows 7 computers that meet certain hardware and software requirements, the Windows Aero theme is used by default, primarily incorporating various animation and transparency effects into the desktop using hardware acceleration and the Desktop Window Manager (DWM). In the "Personalize" section added to Control Panel of Windows Vista, users can customize the "glass" effects to either be opaque or transparent, and change the color it is tinted. Enabling Windows Aero also enables other new features, including an enhanced Alt-Tab menu and taskbar thumbnails with live previews of windows, and "Flip 3D", a window switching mechanism which cascades windows with a 3D effect.

Windows 7 features refinements in Windows Aero, including larger window buttons by default (minimize, maximize, close and query), revised taskbar thumbnails, the ability to manipulate windows by dragging them to the top or sides of the screen (to the side to make it fill half the screen, and to the top to maximize), the ability to hide all windows by hovering the Show Desktop button on the taskbar, and the ability to minimize all other windows by shaking one.

Use of DWM, and by extension the Windows Aero theme, requires a video card with 128 MB of graphics memory (or at least 64 MB of video RAM and 1 GB of system RAM for on-board graphics) supporting pixel shader 2.0, and with WDDM-compatible drivers. Windows Aero is also not available in Windows 7 Starter, only available to a limited extent on Windows Vista Home Basic, and is automatically disabled if a user is detected to be running a non-genuine copy of Windows.[3][4] Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 also support Windows Aero as part of the "Desktop Experience" component, which is disabled by default.[5]

The Aero interface was unveiled for Windows Vista as a complete redesign of the Windows interface, replacing Windows XP's "Luna" theme. Until the release of Windows Vista Beta 1 in July 2005, little had been shown of Aero in public or leaked builds, with alpha builds containing interim designs such as "Plex".[10]

I especially like the window from Caracas, Venezuela. I thought you might like to know about an awesome stained glass window museum on Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois: The Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows. Fabulous!

Six years after two stained-glass windows that honored Confederate Gens. Robert E. Lee and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson were taken down, the Washington National Cathedral has unveiled the pair of windows that are taking their place.

The windows, titled "Now and Forever," were created by artist Kerry James Marshall and center around racial justice. The images show a group of protesters marching in different directions and holding up large signs that read "Fairness" and "No Foul Play."

The new windows "lift up the values of justice and fairness and the ongoing struggle for equality among all God's great children," the Very Rev. Randolph Marshall Hollerith, the cathedral's dean, said on Saturday at the unveiling.

The earlier windows had been a fixture at the house of worship in Washington, D.C., for more than 60 years. Created in 1953, the windows pay tribute to Lee and Jackson, showcasing scenes from their lives as well as the Confederate battle flag.

After nine Black worshippers at Mother Emanuel AME Church in South Carolina were killed by a white supremacist in 2015, the cathedral's dean at the time, Gary Hall, called for the Confederate tribute windows to be removed.

The Confederate flags were removed in 2016 and the windows were taken down in 2017. The cathedral also launched the search for its replacement. In 2021, the cathedral selected Kerry James Marshall as the artist tasked with creating racial justice-themed windows. Marshall, whose paintings have been at the Met, the National Gallery and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, has devoted his career illustrating Black lives and Black culture on canvas.
