Be wary that these logs are copied to complete accuracy (this includes grammar and spelling errors). Also be aware that entries in the following list that are not currently obtainable through normal play can always be viewed with the aid of Console Commands (except all entries in the Cut or Currently Unobtainable Databank Entries section).

Congratulations are also in order for Danielle Valenti and her team at Omega Lab. The closing of Phi Robotics means important funds can be redirected to their Kharaa bacteria study, which has important positive implications for the life sciences.

Instructions: Alien Intruder is a game played by 6 to 15 people. One player acts as Game Master and one player assumes the role of Hive Mind. The remaining players are Scientists on a Research Mission. (Total Players / 6) of the Scientists are secretly Alien intruders.

Hive Mind: The Hive Mind is the puppet master pulling the strings of deception. The Hive Mind knows who the Aliens are and who the Scientists are. This player observes the game and tries to manipulate the Alien Intruders to eliminate all the Scientists. The Hive Mind wins if 3/4 of the Scientists have been eliminated before completing all of their Tasks.

Scientists: The Scientist's job is to survive and eliminate the Alien Intruder(s) or complete all tasks. The Scientists do not know who the Alien is. The Scientists win if the Alien(s) are dead or if they have completed all of their Tasks.

Game Master: The Game Master (GM) runs the session and ensures the completion of the different cycles. The Hive Mind will communicate their intentions directly to the GM and the GM will tell the players hoe his/her intentions play out.

Phases: The game is broken up into days. Each day the Scientists/Alien choose to either perform a task or spy on another player. Then, the Hive Mind tells the GM if they would like to plant a Seed of Doubt on which spy result, if any or eliminate the spy target of the Alien (if applicable). This is done secretly between the Hive Mind and the GM. The GM then reports back on the results of the player's spying efforts (influenced or not by the Hive Mind). After which the Scientists/Alien may have a 3 minute meeting to discuss the day's events. They may then elect to eliminate a Scientist with a majority vote. The Scientists/Alien then go to sleep and start the next day's cycle.

Once this mission is over I'll come home for a few good months. And then, what do you think if we look at reorganizing our expectations to facilitate longer term separation success? I really think this could be a great model for us going forward, romantically and otherwise.

We know these part-organic, part-digital beings stored what they thought of as themselves on computers within their sanctuaries. And we know efforts to 'wake' or communicate with them have been in vain.

My theory is that to make first contact, these digital ghosts must first be recombined with an organic component. As Doctor Kas Slaney's classic study noted, we know they had means to grow cybernetic bodies, and to transfer their data patterns between them.

Fred: You want to follow me on a few runs tomorrow? See what it's like? Conditions are way harsher than anything I ever imagined. I don't know if you can really understand it from inside your base.

We're getting closer. I know the control room will change the process of base building. It contains all the information you need in a singular place: energy delegation for low sunlight areas, build layout, structural information, etc.

Since my research project was cancelled, they have me at a place called Outpost Zero doing... nothing much. Just cataloguing things. Plants. The occasional animal. But it's mostly ice where I am, so there's not a lot of new stuff to find.

I have a new roommate-- Samantha-- a roboticist. You should see her little Pengling bots. Oren, you'd love them. But she got management upset. I guess this is just where they send you if they decide you're too much trouble.

I'm still trying-- quietly-- I don't want any more trouble-- to figure out where I went wrong. I was sure I picked up a distress signal. I was right on top of it. And then it just... stopped. What if someone-- an Architect-- is still down there and needs help?

I have to hand it to Emmanuel though, I don't know what he did to the scanner, but it does a great job at zeroing in on specific minerals. It's better than hoping I stumble across the right outcroppings.

Sam: Danielle at Omega Lab ran samples on the ice cores we pulled, and she says this glacial ice formed unusually fast. Half the microorganisms from the samples aren't even native to this planet! She said they'd name a eukaryote after me, but maybe she was just being nice. I'm gonna get some more data, like, ASAP. Hmm, and Vinh said there's some unusual geothermal activity that's causing the glacial basin to collapse faster than expected.

Also, I'm setting a reminder to thank Sam. She's been a bit down lately, but she really is amazing at what she does. She let me borrow an early spy pengling prototype to get into a couple small spaces down here that I couldn't squeeze into. Maybe I'll get her an extra ration of dessert or give her some extra vending credits. She could use a pick me up.

But really, this is a cold, wet planet. The scientists are full of themselves. There's no action to speak of. The only thing I look forward to is weekly games of Alien Intruder, but more than that, of coming home to you.

Fred: Jenny, you just wouldn't believe the adventure I'm having! It's just like when we were kids and we used to play Underwater City, only the sea monsters aren't pretend and I don't need to hide behind you when one swims by... because I'm safe in my Seatruck. Safe, and very very brave. Please tell dad for me.

Thanks so much for the moustache kit, by the way. To be honest, I wasn't sure if it was a gag gift at first? Personal grooming is something of a challenge here, and as you know, I'm a pretty low-maintenance guy to begin with. But you'd be surprised how handy moustache wax is, in an emergency.

There have been some close scrapes-- for a while there, someone was sabotaging my truck, and I thought I was seeing things. But my friend Sam helped me sort it out. Although... she's had some troubles of her own lately.

To be honest, I get a little worried out here sometimes. But I guess that's normal, under the circumstances. Gotta expect a little risk, right? I should be happy I have great friends and a good paycheck.

A localized explosive charge was then released and detonated from a distance. Lab equipment was damaged to the point of inoperability, and all live specimens were destroyed. No personnel was injured.

Alexis: My investigation of the Phi Excavation Site-- including the cave entrance and surrounding area-- revealed minor cosmetic damage to Alterra survey equipment and significant structural damage to the natural cave entrance and supports.

We are reporting two casualties: Parvan Ivanov, and Samantha Ayou. Both bodies were found beneath the rubble at the cave entrance. Ivanov had just entered the cave. Footprints were still visible by the entrance. Deeper into the cave, Ayou appeared to have sustained a fall.

Zeta: If I escalate the issue for you, will you feel comfortable enough to concentrate again? I have deadlines for the Snowfox and the mining bots coming up. I really need your focus on the Penglings.

Sam: The spy penguins are creating so many new research opportunities! They're perfect for exploring tight spaces I can't squeeze into-- little pockets hiding lots of resources. The penglings can't carry much, but as an added bonus, the local fauna seem to generally ignore them. My little robot friends are too cute to get destroyed.

Sam: It's too cold here. I descend from a tropical people, and for the record I am suffering! The cold weather and frequent storms really put a damper on research. The native animals have some great environmental adaptations though! Snow stalkers have this thick, double-layered coat that keeps them warm and dry, on both land and water. Oh man, a snow stalker fur-lined suit would be amazing! Only problem is how to get the fur. I can't exactly catch and sheer them; I like having all my limbs, thank you very much.
Maybe I can use the spy penglings? They could gather fur scraps, which would definitely minimize the need for safety precautions...

I almost just died, man! I was chilling on the outskirts, drinking my special tea, trying to watch the sunset, right? Which I know is technically against protocols, if I am not accompanied by my official Alterra accountability partner, but that's beside the point.

Focus, Eloise. The flares! I knocked out the headlight of my Snowfox (sorryyyyy) and I strapped a flare over the dash. I was chilling and it flickered out. I heard snow stalker growls like five minutes later! It scared me and I spilled my tasty beverage :(

Anyway, I hopped on the Snowfox, but I couldn't see. The sun had set, obviously. I could hear them running towards me! I had one last flare in my pack. I got it out and FWOOSH. All I see are snow stalkers in the light, but what's this? They're scared of ME now! I rode out of there.

I fear the career impact of saying this officially-- if you can even call what I have a career-- but I could swear they're targeting me personally. The week I was out with the flu, I came back to find the tower spotless. Parvan laughed at me when I asked him how he'd cleaned it.

Anyway, the research outpost is half finished. I scraped my leg on a broken piece of coral. The blood drew a brute shark and I couldn't build the rest fast enough. I used an air bladder to get to the surface. I dropped the builder tool inside the base. If anyone makes it down there they can have it.
