Hi all,

The University of Virginia numismatic collection is ready to be ingested into Pelagios using the new data model, should it pass inspection.

The VoID RDF is at http://coins.lib.virginia.edu/pelagios.rdf

I was not able to find documentation of changes to the VoID RDF model, but the data dump of the collection has been overhauled. Please let me know if it fails inspection, and I will fix problems. If it is okay, then I'll push the changes into the other Numishare projects.

Best,
Ethan

Hi Ethan,

indeed - that's fantastic! You're officially the first one to deliver a data file in our new annotation format. Which also means you'll need to give me a little time to get our own tooling up to speed before I can validate ;-)

Cheers,
Rainer

Hi:

Can someone point me to the new spec? Despite some determined rummaging, I can’t turn up the URL.

Sorry,
Tom

Hi Tom,

the draft is still in somewhat informal state & very beta. I haven't officially "rolled it out" to anyone (except a few unfortunate souls who told me that they are about to generate some new annotations soon-ish... "There is something you may be interested in! :-)")

Anyways - here is what we have so far:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uwpnK_vV9ttkhoARZzrcr8ZO9cholPg9Io2iSh50ht4/edit?usp=sharing

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CuPTwQKXJpDJxly1GcLFI8k2wUjAG_3OaVeU5YnsQFw/edit?usp=sharing

One aspect of this is that (the now deprecated) OAC has evolved into OA - and this now forms the basis of our new format. The other aspect is that we have tried to include recommendations on how to add more metadata to the annotations, as well as the annotated objects (whatever they maybe).

Feedback highly encouraged!

Cheers,
Rainer

P.S.: We will keep supporting the old annotation format as well - so no need to panic for those who already have their data in the API.

Cool! I’ve been thinking about some of these aspects in other contexts, so this is very timely. Thanks,
Tom
