Hi all,

We released the new version of Nomisma last week, which includes a number of new and improved features (you can read more at http://numishare.blogspot.com/).  Today I reworked the Pelagios export mechanisms. If you go to nomisma.org and scroll down to the Data Download section, you'll see a wide variety of download options.

The Pelagios VoID is located at http://nomisma.org/pelagios.void.rdf and the RDF dump is available at http://nomisma.org/pelagios.rdf (both RDF/XML).  The Pelagios dump is generated nightly when other Nomisma RDF dumps are created.

It is possible to keep up to date with the latest changes in Nomisma.  Each entry in the Atom feed (http://nomisma.org/feed/) includes links to alternate serializations of each id, rel="nomisma rdf" and rel="pelagios rdf".  You can therefore get the Nomisma-compliant RDF for rome at http://nomisma.org/id/rome.rdf and Pelagios RDF at http://nomisma.org/id/rome.pelagios.rdf.

Let me know if you find glitches or would like me to implement other features which makes it easier to ingest our data into Pelagios.

Hi Ethan,

fantastic – I updated the Pelagios API with the new data:

http://pelagios.dme.ait.ac.at/api/datasets/88508a5e62fc2a4c98b490f87f814bd8

The Atom feed is great! I’d love to make use of this to feed incremental updates into the Pelagios API, eventually (in some distant future… ;-)

Does the feed only report additions? Or is there a way to get changes/removals as well?

Cheers,

Rainer

Hi Rainer,

The feed reports additions and changes, but not deletions.  Deletions are pretty rare.  The entries in the feed have similar timestamps because I reindexed all the nomisma ids yesterday after updating the indexing script so that Pleiades URIs would be inserted into Solr docs for coin types or hoards where ancient places are referenced by nomisma ids, and the Pleiades URIs aren't explicit.

Hi Ethan,

I’ll definitely put it on my Todo list to update single records based on ATOM. Would be interesting whether a deletion could be communicated somehow as well. But as you say: probably a rare use case in general.
