If there's a bus tour crossing, ask if you can go into Ch'town with them.
I've often had people ask me (during the crossing) if they can drive into
Ch'town with me.
There is no train, bus, etc. that goes from Wood Is. to Ch'town. You walk,
bike, or ride with someone.

You could cab it...probably get a fixed rate, not all that far. Find
someone on the ferry...most would be heading towards Charlottetown or
beyond. Stowaway in a camper :)

I'm pretty sure the bus takes the bridge, which actually takes less time
from Truro than the ferry.
