FREDERICTON, August 20, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Abortion
kingpin Henry Morgentaler is finally suing New Brunswick, the
CBC reports. The octogenarian abortionist has complained since
last October about the province's refusal to subsidize his
highly profitable private abortion clinics with provincial tax
dollars, a refusal he calls "sexist, male chauvinist and oppressive."
In its defence, filed in the Court of Queen's Bench, New
Brunswick says "medically necessary" medicare abortions are
sufficiently available in the province's hospitals. New
Brunswick funds abortion in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, as
long as two doctors sign off. The province also says compliance
with the Canada Health Act is for the federal government to
determine, not the courts.
