The annual Pumpkin Festival is a three-day event that starts on the third Friday in September. Our festival begins with the Parade of Lights, where everything is aglow, from bicycles to cement trucks. Thousands of people line Goddard Road to wait for the fun. Our street festival offers wonderful music, food, crafts, and games for all ages. Visit or enter our Classic Car Show, Craft and Vendor Show, or just relax and listen to music. Our Downtown Festival is a celebration of friends and family; a harvest celebration that generates an enthusiastic spirit and regenerates our sense of Community.

The Pumpkin Festival Committee was established in 1996, and the first festival was held on September 19th and 20th, 1997. The Pumpkin Festival Committee meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month starting in March at 5:30 pm at the City Hall Council Chambers located at 11111 Wayne Road, Romulus, MI 48174.

We would love to find a place for your group or organization within our festival. Please reach out to us today so we can setup a time to connect and discuss your needs.

In addition to assisting with the festival, each volunteer will receive a volunteer t-shirt along with vouchers for food or beverage.Sign Up To VolunteerENTERTAINMENT SCHEDULEView the outstanding Motor City Pride entertainment lineup Entertainment ScheduleABOUT PRIDE
CELEBRATIONSOn the night of June 27, 1969, the usual crowd gathered at the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in New York City's Greenwich Village. New York Beverage Control Board agents and NYC police officers raided the bar to enforce an alcohol control law that was seldom imposed anywhere else in the city.Raids on Gay establishments, however, were common at the time and were conducted regularly with little or no resistance. Fearful Gay patrons were often physically forced out of their gathering places, sometimes beaten, and arrested, with no just cause just for simply congregating.

In 2017 Equality Michigan assisted Motor City Pride in founding its own 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization so the planning committee could concentrate on growing the festival and allowing Equality Michigan to focus on its core mission of victim services, education, and policy work. Since that time, the festival has grown to attract over 55,000 attendees.

Yes. During the days leading up to the festival, set times will be posted via this site, our social media sites, and email updates (sign up for emails at the bottom of this page). Note: The lineup is subject to change.

Exact COVID-19 safety protocol will be shared closer to the event adhering to the then-current guidelines of local, state, and national health officials. Preventative health measures (i.e. proof of negative COVID-19 test or COVID-19 vaccination, etc.) may be required for the festival. Protocols will be communicated as early as possible and are subject to change at any time. Refunds and chargebacks will not be accepted in a result of any COVID protocol implemented.
