To be clear:

I don’t think it is useful to think of it as an artificial intelligence. I prefer to think of it as a tool for thought that requires knowledgeable use. I don’t think LLMs think or understand, and I don’t think that is necessary for them to be useful. Yes, it works by making statistical predictions. That does not mean it is just autocomplete on steroids.
