Hi!

Yesterday, talked about PLoP papers and our experiences gaining familiarity with new skills in this group.   We also followed up on the Open Research Book idea.  Topics still outstanding from the session before this one: VP Expert demo, Otter processing of old videos.

Joe

*1. Review the intention: what do we expect to learn or make together?**

Cris had asked for a quick intro to Open Research Book

Also Cris brought the intention to handle English among Native Speakers

- I feel I’m a part of this
- People won’t pounce - this is a welcoming place?
- I feel you understand what I’m saying! And each time I learn more — in the beginning I couldn’t understand anything!

**2. Establish what is happening: what and how are we learning?**

Caught up on PLoP planning and some background on Mary Lynn & Mary

Made connection with the Open Research Book & Peeragogy - possibly collaboration

**3. What are some different perspectives on what’s happening?**

The same things probably apply to other things besides language!
- Science & Humanities are examples
- There’s a pattern

It was nice to hear everyone this morning and see where we’re all at this week

It’s nice to be able to keep jumping into conversations with people

This also gives confidence to do things with others including with students

- Learning by doing w/ papers and workshops

**4. What did we learn or change?**

Mary has developed a paper with her students

We’ve looked at how the directions and focus are changing over years, e.g., more about patterns now than 10 years ago

**5. What else should we change going forward?**

Thinking more about how to fit the Open Research Book, peeragogy, and patterns.

This can go into the pitch for funding to attend PLoP — including existing material
