1. Review the intention: what do we expect to learn or make together?
Going back 2 modes of engagement between music and card game, see if there were any patterns across them.
Participants at EuroPLoP in Germany: Using AI tools, what might change in music now that there are AI tools
Play Dixit as a model of AI? We were going to make special Analogia cards, but didn't get them ready in time.
2. Establish what is happening: what and how are we learning?
Participants at EuroPLoP in Germany: What happened: was a bit different from AI — but I got something that was a bit related, the idea of taking keywords to stories, and putting them into an AI model
Participants at EuroPLoP in Germany: Take keywords from Dixit game and put into Sumo
Joe: Talking about Human pattern recognition — we had an abstract card but helped get some abstract/human descriptions
Mary: There is a way to play Dixit online with bots
In Person Dixit clues:
Making the movie in the night
Sleepy fish
Magic
Thinking
Loneliness
Imagination
Online group Dixit clues:
old bird
Europlop
Bad Memories
Is Dixit really about storytelling.? The game serves as a model…
3. What are some different perspectives on what’s happening?
Participants at EuroPLoP in Germany Question: is game with chatbot used for reinforcement learning?
Sridevei: no, used for the game itself
Can we Zoom on the concrete details of what happened?
Game design pattern: — it’s a great challenge to engage players in a way where they are constantly challenged but not too much — otherwise you stop, if it’s too easy you also stop
Can AI help grasp “where are we in this challenge”
Mary: it’s great that we could do this with people far away -
Joe: sharing stuff as a dialogue, rather than us trying to participate in “the same” thing
4. What did we learn or change?
Joe: done many different workshops, embodied movement worked well and the game, also able to have a conversation about it over the last few minutes, brought a lot of creativity to it
Mary: as facilitators who did focus group here last time, didn’t confuse you all too much, you had fun
Participants: Yes!
Cris: leading a group in movement circle, usually you try to control, but with delay of sound it was different experience, giving away control (funny!)
Charlotte: it was nice to see everyone opening their minds and hearts and bodies to the activity, and you could sense that, even across the technology…
Mary: all singing the song together across the world was a powerful statement!
Participant: Wouldn’t repeat that, was difficult to follow, there was some language barrier as well as a technical and visual barrier — I wonder if “you” are here if there are people online! (e.g., the music teacher is remote…) but part of my energy went to understand how I could be not-completely-awkward, easier for person in room … too much overload in this situation, confused because i expected something else,
Charlotte: knowing that it was an indigenous song going out the world among us
5. What else should we change going forward?
Participant: if i knew from beginning there was dancing and someone was online … big switch … that would be easier
Joe: accurate and helpful feedback, engaging with difficult transitions and media issues is part of the experience, sorry it was difficult and appreciate you stuck with it (we’ve also seen some difficulties with in-person workshops where people say: OK, we see that you’re telling us what to do, but why are you telling us what to do!?)
Participant: I agree with what he said, give some context at start, was missing .. initially thinking building with AI
Participant: Keeping some conflict is good — initially we thought “I’m creating music with AI / but then you found yourself dancing” — so now you feel what you’re doing, then you’re not hearing that well… you either need someone here or a very good connection!
Participant: I don’t know if you know, I don’t have a deeper connection to anyone here… but now “You are one of us”
CHarlotte: in 10 years you’ll be telling this story
Joe: Possibly this can be the start of some collaboration for 2 people who found the experience challenging and will bond over that!
Cris: When we think about AI, we don’t think that the body may be part of the interaction b/c it seems so virtual, online &c. It’s interesting that this was brought.
Joe: appreciated them speaking about the challenges. Those are already there when we’re using a computer interface across continents … for a introduction to peeragogy this worked better than talking about PLACARD and patterns
Cris: If the attendee hadn’t brought up the sensation of being a bit overloaded & confused, I wouldn’t have noticed it. My vision was increased & could be integrated when he brought this point of view (the PAR was very important). Especially if people allow themselves to expose what they really felt!
Marcelo from Brazil really liked Cris session the most of the students. Rita and Max gave me a good suggestion for improving by taking the clues from the Dixit game and asking suno ai to generate a song. We can do that.
