Antony H BERGER was born in 1963. He is the second son of Michael D BERGER (born 1936) and his wife (married 1960), Caroline O ST JOHNSTON (born 1940), who was herself the elder daughter of Col Sir (Thomas) Eric ST JOHNSTON, CBE, KStJ, QPM, TD (7 I 1911 - 17 III 1986), HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary 1967-70, and his first wife (married 1937), Joan WHARTON (21 II 1914 - 19 I 1974).
In May 1940, Sir Eric St Johnstone was the officer in charge of Chelsea Police Station; two months later, at the age of 29, he became Chief Constable of Oxfordshire, the youngest person to have been appointed to that rank in the United Kingdom. He subsequently moved to become Chief Constable of Durham in 1944, and of Lancashire in 1950.
Antony H Berger's marriage to Nicola Anne DAWSON (born 2 X 1964) was registered in May 1989 in North East Hampshire. She is a scion of the Dawson of Weston Hall, Otley, Yorkshire landed gentry family, and is the youngest child of the late Maj Peter Romilly DAWSON (25 I1930 - 17 II 2020) and his wife (married 19 IV 1958), Elizabeth Susan GRATTAN (9 I 1932 - 16 VIII 2008), of that Irish landed gentry family.
Maj Peter Dawson was the younger son of Maj John Vavasour DAWSON (3 III 1890 - 27 II 1935) and his wife (married 2 VII 1915), Charlotte Gerda ROMILLY (1889 - 1970), of that landed gentry family.
