Does anybody know whether George Pitt (1796-1865) is somehow related to Thomas Pitt (1653-1726), President of Fort St George (Madras)?

All I could find was that George Pitt was baptised on April 2, 1796, at St Marylebone, as son of Thomas Pitt and Anna Maria. He died on April 28, 1865, at Cricket Malherbie Court.

I found a marriage certificate between Thomas Pitt and Anna Maria Legh (1787, Rostherne, Cheshire), but I can't confirm they are George's parents.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the Duchess of Kent is a direct descendant of Oliver Cromwell and Wikipedia appears to confirm this saying that she is descended from Cromwell`s youngest daughter Frances. However, given that Wikipedia isn`t a 100% reliable - anyone can post anything without verification - and this site is can anyone here confirm that.

I'm sure it's correct that Kate Kent is descended from the first Lord Protector. I think Debrett's covered it in the preface to a 1960s edition. Here's a link to the Duchess' brother's Dec 2012 Telegraph obit which mentions his descent from Frances Cromwell.
