Beloved husband to the late Meriel, wonderful stepfather to Rupert, Tom and Natasha and adored Baba to Oliver, Tobias, Samuel, Bertie, Orlando and Caspian. He was s of (Hyman) Victor AFIA 1915-94 by his 1936 m reg Q3 Hammersmith to _ COWAN. He m 1985 as her 2 h Meriel Rose CVO 1940-2025 d of Capt Joseph Gurney Fowell BUXTON 1913-ka1943 (2xgt gs of Sir Thomas Fowell BUXTON 1^st Bt 1786-1845) and as her 1st h  Elizabeth Langley (Mrs Alexander Grant) 1915-1934 d of Maj Robert BARBOUR 1876-1928 and as her 1^st h Ida Lavington (Mrs William Carter) 1889-1985 d of Arthur Lavington PAYNE 1860-1917 (s of Sir Salusbury Gillies PAYNE 5^th Bt 1829-93) and Alice Ida 1866-1948 d of James DUGDALE 1813-76 sometime head of that gentry family of Wroxall Abbey and Mary Louisa PLUMMER 1829-95

The late Mr Afia's father was Haim Victor AFIA (6 V 1908 - 8 XII 1992), and his mother was Rose Lydia COWAN (1910 - 7 I 2011). Hyman Victor AFIA (5 X 1915 - 23 I 1994) would appear to be an unrelated person, who married a Margaret J BONNEY in 1941.

 

Maj Robert BARBOUR was the head of that landed gentry family, of Bolesworth Castle, Cheshire.
