From the Telegraph & Times of 16 March 2022: JOHNSTON Nicholas John, died peacefully at home on 11th March 2022, one week after the death of Susanna, his beloved wife of 63 years. Father of Clara, Lily, Rosie and Silvy. Grandfather of Bertram, Stella, Ruby and Honor, Myrtle, George, Ida, Barley, Martha and Wattie. The date of their funeral is yet to be confirmed. He was s of Capt Archibald Edward JOHNSTON CBE RN 1885-1967 scion of that Irish gentry family f/o Aughaward and Isabel Pamela SHAND 1895-1987 scion of the LISTER gentry family of Finningley Park. He m 1958 Susanna Maria 1935-2022 d of Sir Christopher John CHANCELLOR CMG 1904-89 sometime head of that gentry family of Hunstrete House and Sylvia Mary 1901-96 d of Sir Richard Arthur Surtees PAGET 2nd Bt 1869-1955 and Lady Muriel Vernon FINCH-HATTON 1876-1958 d of 12th Earl of WINCHILSEA 1851-98, and had four daus as above.

Nicky Johnston was an architect once described as the unsung genius among contemporary British architects.

His work can be seen in many Country Houses where he adapted them for contemporary living.He designed the cricket pavilion at Wormsley .

Country Life described him as a gentleman Architect .
