Mr Hornyold-Strickland is the son of Thomas H-S, Count della Catena
and the Countess della Catena of Sizergh Castle, Cumbria. Miss
Livingstone is the daughter of the Baron of Bachuil and Madame
Livingstone, Isle of Lismore, Argyll.

The Hornyolds are scions of an old Genoese family with Papal
Connections.

Yes indeed Brooke. It is a Scottish feudal barony which until recently
could be bought and sold at will. This particular baron claims descent
from the original feudal baron. Here are some details relating to the
barony:

I don't need to tell this group that the Hornyolds are an old catholic
family. The Dukedom of Gandolfi was bestowed on an ancestor (by the
Pope) in 1899 based on an old Genoese title held by the Gandolfis (who
married into the Hornyold family).

I should have added that Mr Hornyold-Strickland is descended from the
1st and last Baron Strickland through the marriage of Henry Albert
Hornyold b. 4 November 1890 to Hon. Mary Christina Strickland b. 1896.

I had a feeling it was a feudal barony but thanks for confirming it,
Richard.

I'm afraid that I don't take feudal barons as seriously as they take
themselves. It is interesting to note that the style used by the
'Baron of Bachuil' are incorrectly applied in 'The Times'
announcement.

While most Scots feudal barons have an inflated sense of "importance",
the Barons of Bachuil are indeed an ancient Scottish family, chiefs of
the Clan MacLea. While the Bridegroom-elect's lineage may be of some
antiquity, the same can be said of the Bride-elect.

Kind regards,
J. Sandford Fleming MacLean, Jr.

I wasn't calling the Livingstone lineage into question, you may notice
that I added some details of their ancestry to an earlier post.
