....Following the death of Sir David some feared that the baronetcy might expire as Sir David had no male heirs. However, Sir David had in fact assisted his distant cousin Edmund (Ted) Cooke-Yarborough, and his son Anthony, to establish a succession pedigree at the College of Arms. This was formally recorded in 2010, and it facilitated Anthony's succession on the Official Roll of the Baronetage after Sir David's death....

Recently Recorded Pedigrees

COOKE and COOKE-YARBOROUGH: a pedigree of ten generations has been placed on record, setting out a descent from Sir George Cooke of Wheatley, near Doncaster, co. York, who married in 1683 to Catherine. The pedigree shows a descent via his eldest son Sir Bryan Cooke of Wheatley, baronet (died 1734), to the present day. Also recorded is a descent via his second son, George Cooke of Doncaster (died 1763), to the Cooke-Yarborough family of Campsmount, co. York, and thence to the present day. Cross-referenced to Norfolk 3/208; Baronets Pedigrees 1/245 and 6/48. College reference: Norfolk 51/171.

Guess it gives hope to us for other peerages and baronetcies that appear to be on the verge of extinction.

Other peerages baronetcies  are not in the same position as this one. Looking through Debretts 2011 there seemed to be copious collaterals descended from the sons of the 3 rd or 2nd barts. I think that what the danger might have been was the baronetcy falling dormant, with an unclear decent.
