I was just looking through the descendents of the 14th Earl of
Strathmore and Kingthorne and wondered how many of the nephew and
nieces of the late Queen Mother were still alive.

Not many from what I can see but those who are I cannot find much info
on these people:

Katherine Bowes-Lyon (born 4 July 1926) daughter of Lord John Herbet
Bowes-Lyon. Apparently she is in a nursing home in Surrey for the
mentally disabled as one of her sisters was before her death.

Mary Cecilia Leveson-Gower (born 12 December 1917) daughter of Lady
Rose Bowes-Lyon and 4th Earl Granville.

Davina Katherine Bowes-Lyon (born 2 May 1930) daughter of Sir David
Bowes-Lyon.

Michael Bowes-Lyon (born 29 May 1940) son of Lord Michael Bowes-Lyon.

The few others still alive there is info on.

Cheers
Richard

Lord John Herbet
Bowes-Lyon! Was there a special warrant granted to elevate the latter
to the rank of a marquis' son?

It's an easy mistake to make...

I thought it might have reflected an innate predilection for a
marquisate, if only there were a couple of dozen more!

"The Royal Earlswood Hospital, once the Earlswood Asylum, was
undoubtedly the premier institution (at the very least in terms of its
public profile) for `idiots' and `imbeciles' for much of the
nineteenth and twentieth centuries."
