From the Times of 23 July 2024: MCLAREN The Hon Christopher Melville died on 11th July 2024, aged 90, at Hammersmith Hospital. Adored husband of Janey, dearly loved father of Robert and Lara, grandfather of Lucas, Scott and Eliza, and father-in-law of Ellie and Jes. A wonderful friend to many. He will be greatly missed. Cremation was held at Mortlake Crematorium on Monday 22nd July for immediate family. Donations if wished to the Samuel Courtauld Trust... There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life in autumn.

He was s of 2^nd Baron ABERCONWAY 1879-1953 and Christabel Mary Melville 1890-1974 d of Sir Melville Leslie MACNAGHTEN CB 1853-1921 (gs of Sir Francis WORKMAN-MACNAGHTEN 1^st Bt 1763-1843) and Dora Emily 1860-1929 d of Rev Robert Edward SANDERSON 1828-1910 and Dorinthea Phelps OLDHAM 1827-1907. He m 1973 Jane Elizabeth b 1939 reg Q2 London d of James Matthew BARRIE 1913-2000 by his 1938 m reg Q2 London to Nesta Evelyn REID 1915-81, and had a son (Robert Melville b 1974: m 2005 and has two sons (Lucas & Scott) and a dau (Lara Jane Christabel b 1976: m 2007 and has a dau (Eliza)).
