Loveday (b ca June 2020) is the first child of Merlin Hanbury-Tenison (b 1985) and his wife Lizzie nee Hemstock. Her parents were engaged 2011 and planned to marry at the family home on Bodmin moor. (Lizzie Hanbury-Tenidon has written about two prior miscarriages,).
Merlin, a former soldier (three tours of Afghanistan) and now ecologist cum farmer, is the third and youngest child and second and younger son of Robin Hanbury-Tenison (b 1936 Ireland) and only child by his second wife Louella Williams.
His uncle Sir Richard Hanbury-Tenison, a former Lord Lieutenant of Monmouthshire (?), died about fifteen years ago. His father Robin Hanbury-Tenison is a noted explorer and founder of Survival International, and survived Covid-19 two years ago at age 84.
The Hanbury-Tenisons run Cabilla estate on Bodmin moor, featured a long story on BBC World Service today. (The house and estate was bought by Robin in 1960 and passed down to his younger son some years ago). So I looked up the family.
The Hanbury-Tenisons are patrilineally Tenisons from Ireland. Merlin's paternal grandmother was Ruth Hanbury, descended from a common ancestor with the Lords Sudeley (Hanbury-Tracy) and descended from Capel Hanbury MP, elder brother of Sir Charles Hanbury-Williams, British diplomat in Russia during the Seven Years War.
