He was s of Maj  David Henry FETHERSTONHAUGH 1924-94 sometime head of that gentry family formerly HUGHES of Kinmel, and his former wife (her 1^st h) Hon Mary Victoria (Maria) MONCKTON-ARUNDELL 1924-2010 (Hon Mrs Maria Chaworth-Musters) d of Lt-Col 8th Viscount GALWAY GCMG DSO OBE PC 1882-1943 and Hon Lucia Emily Margaret WHITE 1890-1983 d of 3rd Baron ANNALY and gd of 3rd Viscount CLIFDEN 1825-66. He m 1^st 1971 (div 2005) Louise 1946-2013 adopted d of Maj Hon (Richard) Hanning PHILIPPS MBE 1904-98 (s of 1st Baron MILFORD 1874-1962) and Lady Marion Violet (Snowy) DALRYMPLE 1908-95 d of 12th Earl of STAIR KT DSO 1879-1961, and had two sons and two daus. He m 2^nd 2005 as her 2^nd h Caroline ROBERTSON (Mrs Springman), who survives him.

Both his parents were descendants of the marriage of Francis Seymour-Conway, Marquess of Hertford, of the Dukes of Somerset, to Lady Isabella Fitzroy.
