He was s of ACM Sir William ELLIOT GCVO KCB KBE DFC RAF 1896-1971 and Elizabeth Rosemary Alice 1906-71 d of Lt-Col Sir John Robert CHANCELLOR GCMG GCVO GBE DSO 1870-1952 sometime head of that gentry family of Shieldhill and Mary Elisabeth (Elsie) Howard 1881-1976 d of George Rodie THOMPSON 1846-1195 of Lynwood, Ascot, Berks and Alice Howard BARBER 1857-85. He m 1972 Sonia Annabel b 1949 (sister of The QUEEN b 1947) d of Maj Bruce Middleton Hope SHAND MC 1917-2006 sometime head of that gentry family of The Laines and Hon Rosalind Maud CUBITT 1921-94 d of 3^rd Baron ASHCOMBE 1899-1962 and Sonia Rosemary KEPPEL 1900-86 gd of 7^th Earl of ALBEMARLE 1832-94 etc, and had a son and two daus.
