A Burke's online edition says that his father was only "of Crowcombe and Casewick" and that Anthony inherited Carew Castle directly from his paternal grandmother, Hon. Dorothy Nesta Trollope, sister of 3rd Lord Kesteven, whose mother was Ethel Mary Carew, heiress of Crowcombe Court and Carew Castle. Anthony's paternal grandfather was born "Bellew" and added "Trollope" after his marriage.
