Major The Lord Borwick, MC, fourth baron & fourth baronet, has died at
the age of 89.

James Hugh Myles (Robert) Borwick was born 12 Dec 1917, so of the 3rd
Baron (1888-1961) by his 1st wife Irene Phyllis (d 1969), daughter of
Thomas Patterson. He was educated at Eton. Career:-> Major, Highland
Light Infantry, served in the European War 1939-45, awarded the
Military Cross (1944); succeeded his father in 1961 as 4th holder of
the peerage and baronetcy (Bt 1916, Baron 1922); married 1954,
Hyllarie Adalia Mary (Babbins), dau of Lieutenant-Colonel William
Hamilton Hall Johnston, DSO, MC, DL, of Bryn-y-Groes, Bala, North
Wales, by whom he had four daughters, (i) (Angela) Jane b 1955, (ii)
Mary-Anne b 1957, (iii) Diana b 1959, and (iv) Amanda b 1965. The
family honours now devolve (correct me if I'm wrong) upon his
Lordship's nephew, (Geoffrey Robert) James (Jamie) Borwick, who was b
1955, married to a scion of the Poore Baronets, who has several male
offspring.

The funeral service takes place at Salisbury Crematorium, 2 May.

correct Michael, there is a brother, b 1960 who has two daus. The new
peer's eldest son is b 1984 and the youngest in 97, there is also a
daugher by 90 I think, according to my outdated Debretts 2000. I
wonder if Neptune House is still in the family, is there a decent
sized estate?

The 5th Baron indeed has 3 sons and one daughter. His brother Richard
has 2 sons and 4 daughters. (Burke's)

The future of the Borwick barony appears secure for the foreseeable
future. The new Baron's 3 sons were born in 1984, 1987 and 1997 while
his brother's 2 sons were born in 1985 and 1992.

All peerages should have such a wealth of "potential" barons!
