She was Hon (Mary) Gay Hobart MARGESSON d of 1st Viscount MARGESSON (1890-1965, gt gs of 6th Earl of BUCKINGHAMSHIRE) and Frances Howard LEGGETT (1896-1977). She m 1944 the royal courtier and LP Baron CHARTERIS OF AMISFIELD (1913-99) gs of the 11th Earl of WEMYSS and, maternally, gs of 8th Duke of RUTLAND, and had two sons and a dau.
