I have her with a triple descent from the 5th Duke of BEAUFORT.

Not only were her father and maternal grandfather Somerset family members, but also her maternal grandmother (descended through Colonel Lord John Henry Thomas SOMERSET (1787-1846), s of the 5th Duke)

Thanks Henry. It's always a fine balance between when I stop typing & start posting and it's reassuring that other posters are posting these additional nuggets!

EDIT: Forgot death year of William Tribe b. 1793, now added

Some notes on the Tribe family (from BMD and census records, Walford's, etc):

William Harold Tribe, per probate record, of Durrington Manor, Worthing, Sussex, and 4, Temple Gardens, Temple; formerly of Broadwater Manor, Sussex, educ. Trinity Coll., Oxon. (B.A. 1904, M.A. 1908), barrister (of the Middle Temple). temp. Capt., 4th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment (WWI). Walford's County Families (1919), from which came the preceding career details, shows he had two daughters by his first wife (m. 1907, div. 1919), Muriel Lilian, dau. of Sir Charles Day Rose, 1st Bt; per the account of John Tribe (this being William John Raglan Horatio Tribe b. 1955, s. of W. J. F. and Anna [née Somerset] Tribe, as in Richard's first post) at https://www.ancestry.com/boards/thread.aspx?mv=flat&m=15&p=surnames.tribe , he married secondly, Kathleen Irene Sinclair, a widow. The 1920 marriage record of William H. Tribe and Kathleen I. Sinclair corroborates this; given the birth record of William J. F. Tribe, her maiden name was presumably 'Ryan'.

Regarding William Harold Tribe's parents, the Walford's 1919 entry treats Mrs Tribe, of Broadwater Manor, Sussex, she being Alice Harriet, dau. of Henry William Woods, Esq. of Heene, Sussex; her husband (m. 1882), William Foard Tribe, J.P., of Broadwater Manor, d. 1887.

Per census etc records, William Foard Tribe b. 1823; he was formerly of Chapel Road, Broadwater, Worthing, a solicitor, and (per the London Gazette) a Lt, 11th Sussex Rifle Volunteer Corps. His first wife (m. 1845) was Frances Sophia (1802-1878- this considerable difference in age borne out by death record, census etc, but varying in scale as one might expect), dau. of Robert Fearn, of Chelsea. Their children William (b. 1847) and Fanny Emma Ann (b. 1849). Given the much later birth of his namesake half-brother, William might have predeceased this, but not, of course, necessarily given the strong tradition of "William" in this family. William Harold Tribe's sister, Edith Eliza (1884-1971) m. 1904, Rev. Ernest Wivelsfield Harrison, M.A., s. of Rev. James Harwood Harrison and Emily Wade Holden, dau. of Lt-Col Holden Rose, of Wivelsfield, Sussex, J.P., D.L., late 9th/ 17th Lancers. Rev. Ernest and Edith Harrison's son (James) Harwood Harrison (1907-1980), a Conservative M.P., Lord Commissioner of the Treasury 1956-9, Comptroller of the Household 1959-61, cr. Baronet 1961.

According to John Tribe's account linked at Ancestry above, William Foard Tribe s. of William Tribe b. 1793 and Jane Emma Foard; this borne out by records and census: William Tribe of High Street, Broadwater, Worthing, solicitor ["gentleman" per probate; he d. 1879], m. 1820, Jane Emma (1797-), dau. of - Foard, of Petworth, Sussex. Their second son Henry (b. 1824) a "gentleman annuitant" in census records.

William Tribe, again per John Tribe's Ancestry post, s. of William Tribe b. 1768, who m. Mary Newland; the 1792 marriage at Broadwater recorded of these individuals, but I would need to research further to establish this all properly.

For completeness's sake, the preceding generations outlined by John Tribe: William Tribe (b. 1768) s. of William Tribe (1723-1805) and Jane Edmunds, he being s. of William Tribe (1671-1735) and Sarah Shelley; this William being s. of "apparently the first Tribe to whom we can trace our line", Robert Tribe (d. West Tarring 1709) and Elizabeth Alcock. Although there's no real reason to assume this is incorrect, personally I'd want to confirm it for my own records at least, but here it is anyway!

No mention has been made of Mrs. Tribe’s illustrious descent as a direct descendent of Horatio Nelson, about whom she was interviewed many times in the media.

Obit in the Telegraph of 19 May 2020:

Anna Tribe, leading light of the Nelson Society who was devoted to her ancestor’s legacy – obituary

Anti-political correctness, she lambasted plans to re-enact the Battle of Trafalgar with ‘red’ and ‘blue’ sides to avoid upsetting France

Anna Tribe, who has died aged 90, was the great-great-great granddaughter of Vice-Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson, victor of the Battle of Trafalgar, whom she closely resembled, and Lady Emma Hamilton.

As the senior member of a family descended from one of the greatest of love affairs Anna Tribe took her role seriously. As life vice-president of the Nelson Society, she gave her support through regular attendance at events, talks about her family history; whether meeting dignitaries or unveiling plaques, she did so with gravitas and humour.

…Unlike her ancestor, Tribe found her sea legs and enjoyed cruise-lecturing, when she usually spoke without notes. She habitually wore a locket containing a lock of Nelson’s hair: the burglary of her house in 2014 and the loss of treasured items of memorabilia was a shattering experience.

Anna Millicent Horatia Fitzroy Somerset, descended not only from Nelson but also from Henry Somerset, 5th Duke of Beaufort, was born in London on September 9 1929. In 1939 she and her parents moved as wartime refugees to Raglan in Monmouthshire, to live at the home of her grandparents, Raglan Turbeville Somerset, warden of Raglan Castle, and his wife, Elizabeth Horatia Anne, a great-granddaughter of Nelson.

…She was appointed OBE in 1983 for political and public service in Wales.

In 1950 Anna married William Tribe, who predeceased her. She is survived by a large family who mostly carry Horatio or Horatia as a given name.

Anna Tribe, born September 9 1929, died April 26 2020

I've always wondered whether the name "Horatio" in his case came from the Walpoles, who had many Horatios and Horaces. The connection:

Robert Walpole, of Houghton (1650-1700); m.1671 Mary Burwell (ca 1655-1711)

1.Mary (1673-1701); m.1689 Charles Turner, of Warham [cr Baronet 1727] (ca 1665-24 Nov 1738)
1.1.Anne Turner (1691-1768); m.Rev. Maurice Suckling
1.1.1.Catherine Suckling (1725-1767); m.1749 Rev. Edmund Nelson (d.1802)
1.1.1.1.Horatio Nelson, cr 1798 Lord Nelson of the Nile, cr 1801 Viscount Nelson, cr 1801 Duke of Bronté (k.at Battle of Trafalgar 21 Oct 1805); m.22 Mar 1787 Mrs Frances Nisbet, née Woolward (d.6 May 1831)

2.Sir Robert, Prime Minister 1715-7 and 1721-42, cr 1742 Earl of Orford, Viscount Walpole and Baron of Houghton (Houghton 26 Aug 1676-London 18 Mar 1745); m.1st London 30 Jul 1700 Catherine Shorter (ca 1682-London 20 Aug 1737); m.2nd 1738 Maria Skerrett (d.4 Jun 1738)
2.1.Horace [Horatio], 4th Earl of Orford (5 Oct 1717-London 2 Mar 1797)

3.Horatio, cr 1756 Lord Walpole of Wolterton (8 Dec 1678-5 Feb 1757); m.21 Jun 1720 Mary Magdalen Lombard (d.9 Mar 1783); many of his descendnts were named Horatio

and actually one more, from an earlier generation:

A younger brother of Robert Walpole (1650-1700) was Horatio Walpole (d.17 Oct 1717), who married Lady Anne Coke, née Osborne (d.5 Aug 1722)
