From the Telegraph of 16 March 2021: ELWES Timothy Cyprian George Thomas, devoted husband to Leila, loving father of Ian, Gavin, Lydia and Amanda, step-father to Oliver, grandfather of Agatha, Poppy, Gavin, Tristan, Cyprian, George, Tom, Grace and Cory and step-grandfather to Fred and George; brother-in-law to Valerie and uncle to Mark and James; and father-in-law to Deborah, Eva, Matthew, Marco and Henrietta. Farewell to a brave and generous man.

He was s of Lt-Col Simon Edmund Vincent Paul ELWES 1902-75 scion of that gentry family of Roxby and gs of 8th Earl of DENBIGH 1823-92, and Hon Gloria Elinor RODD 1901-75 d of 1st Baron RENNELL 1848-1941. He m 1st 1959 (div 1969) Lorna b 1936 d of Capt Ian Archibald de Houghton LYLE 1909-ka1942 (s of Sir Archibald Moir Park LYLE 2nd Bt 1884-1946) and Hon Lydia YARDE-BULLER 19170-2006 d of 3rd Baron CHURSTON 1873-1930, and had two sons and a dau as above. He m 2nd 1974 Lelia Frances WOLSTEN-CROFT (prev Mrs John Corbett).

Mr Elwes' second wife, née Leila Frances WOLSTEN-CROFT, was previously married to Richard Panton CORBETT (born 17 II 1938), who married secondly, on 7 July 1974, (as her second husband) Dame Antoinette SIBLEY. Mr Corbett, who was High Sheriff of Shropshire in the year 2000, is of the Corbett family of Longnor Hall, Shropshire (for whom see the 1969 edition of Burke's Landed Gentry). By her first marriage Mrs Elwes had one son, Oliver Roebling Panton CORBETT (born January 1965), who is referred to in his stepfather's death notice.
