From the Telegraph of 10 June 2024: THORNTON Brian Maurice, died peacefully at home on Sunday 2nd June, aged 87, having commented on his life, the day before he died, "It's been marvellous." Beloved husband of 65 years of Verity; father of Guy, Kim, Ben, Giles, Jo and Sam; grandfather of Tom, Tara, Tilly, Mia, Atalanta, Anna, Ella, Marcus, Lily, Joshua and Freddie, great-grandfather of Otto, Oscar and Milo. Private funeral. Thanksgiving Service on Friday 6th September, 2 p.m. in Gloucester Cathedral. Donations to St Michael's Hospice, Hereford.

He was s of Maj Kenneth Marcus THORNTON 1908-98 and Angela Mariel Baliol 1911-2006 d of Lt-Col Hon Maurice Vyner Baliol BRETT 1882-1934 (s of 2^nd Viscount ESHER GCB GCVO 1852-1930) and Florence Harriet Zena DONES 1886-1975. He m 1959 Verity b c1937 d of Guy Gordon LAWRENCE c1909-64 by his 1934 m reg Q2 Surrey to Rhoda Evelyn PAYNE 1912-2000, and had 5 sons and a dau as above.

Per probate records, Mrs Kim Marie WHEATING, née THORNTON, died on 14 July 2006. Her sudden and premature death was, tragically, from an arrhythmia.
