Who was Don Antonio, I was unable to find out which title he held? For to be Don in Spain one needs to hold a title?

A good opportunity for you to investigate Marquess and present your findings to the Group!

Romero-Valdespino y Goyita Ruiz y Garcia- Zapata Marquesa de los Alamos del Guadalete, the current occupant Dona Gema succeeded in 96 as the 13th holder of the title which was created  by Carlos II on 19th Jan 1685. The current holder was born in 64 so I am assuming she must have succeeded her father who died in 96? My source only gives information about the current holder and to be honest I struggle with Spanish as I have never studied it.

Hmm... this does seem a confusing situation, since based on what I've found online, the previous- 13th- holder of the title was María Asunción Carabaño y Goytia (presumably Dona Gema's mother? I don't really know how Spanish systems work!), as shown here: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marquesado_de_los_%C3%81lamos_del_Guadalete and http://geneall.net/es/title/8615/marqueses-de-alamos-del-guadalete/ Of course there may be some error in play here, or could Don Antonio have used it ('Don') as a courtesy title in some way? Perhaps he was entitled to such in his own right through some achievement or other? I'm afraid I can't be any more use than that!

My understanding is that the 'Don' is only used for the holder of the title at least in Spain, I am not sure what the position is for those who are heirs apparent bearing a subsiduary title? From my examination of the Spanish nobility website (http://www.unterstein.net/or/Nobiliario.html) I saw no subsidiary titles for this marquisate.
