Palmer (born 1987), second son of John Reginald David Palmer, of Carlton Curlieu, Leicestershire, by his wife the former Lady Laura Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound (b 1956), scion of the Earls of Minto {Earl, UK, cr 1813), & Alice C. Brinkley, second daughter of Mr & Mrs John Brinkley, of Chelsea, London.

Nicholas Palmer is a grandson maternally of the 6th Earl of Minto.
