John Valentine Gosling, who died 1 February, 2007, aged 93, was a
scion of that LG family of Thrimley House, formerly of Hassobury, who
was b. on Valentine's Day, 1913, the 2nd son of Alfred Henry Gosling
(1874-1961), by his wife the former Gwladys Dorothy Lloyd (of the
Lloyds of Dolobran LG); educ at Eton; served in WWII with the 24th
Lancers, Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry; married (i) 1950 (div) Mary
Francesca Pearson-Rogers, by whom he had issue, married (ii) 1970, the
former Lady Caroline Victoria Wood (b. 1937), former wife of Randle
Joseph Feilden (descended from the Viscounts Hampden) and daughter of
the 2nd Earl of Halifax. (Lady Caroline's former husband Randle
Feilden married Mr Gosling's former wife Mary); he leaves issue from
his 1st marriage. A Thanksgiving Service takes place at Dulverton,
Som, on 27 Feb, 2007.

Is this second marriage the couple referred to in a book, where a
husband found out that his wife was unfaithful, and after the divorce,
the "innocent" parties married, as did the "guilty" parties? I put
this in brackets, since I am not sure whether the divorce law at the
time of the original divorce (Mr Feilden from Lady Caroline, and Mrs
Gosling nee Mary Pearsons-Roger from her husband) was framed in terms
of innocent/ guilty or a no-fault divorce./
