From the Daily Telegraph DEATHS 7 June 2017 -    On May 27th, peacefully after a long illness, Thomas Edward, Lord Bridges GCMG, formerly HM Ambassador at Rome.  Beloved husband of the late Rachel, father and grandfather.  Funeral Service at 2.30pm on 20th June at St Bartholomew's Orford, Suffolk.  The 11.30 train from Liverpool Street will be met at Ipswich.  Those wishing to be met should contact Gill Webb on 0203 375 7537 or gill...@farrer.co.uk.  At his request there will be no memorial service.  No flowers, but donations in lieu to Alzheimer's Research would be most welcome c/o EB Button & Sons Ltd, 24 St John's Street, Woodbridge IP12 1EB

He was an elected hereditary peer until his removal for non-attendance last year.

He is succeeded by his elder son Hon Mark Thomas Bridges CVO b 1954 who married 1978 Angela Margaret Collinson and has issue Miles Edmund Farrer Bridges b 1992 (the new heir) and 3 daughters.  The new Baron is a partner of Farrer & Co, Solicitors, was Solicitor to the Duchy of Lancaster 1998-2012 and since then Personal Solicitor to The Queen.

Ironic that the Baronies of  Bridges and  Braybrooke which follow each other in the alphabetical in the list of Barons should change hands within days of each other
