The latest College of Arms newsletter reports that Hon Christopher Fletcher-Vane, Chester Herald, retired on 30 September after reaching the age of 70. "He was the 41st holder of the office. Educated at Eton
College and Trinity College, Cambridge, he was called to the Bar as a member of
the Inner Temple in 1976 and practiced at the Chancery Bar until 2013. He was
appointed Portcullis Pursuivant in 2012, was promoted to Chester Herald in
2017, and took part in the Coronation of Their Majesties The King and Queen in
May 2023. Two days before his retirement, he performed his final function in
office by presenting the Letters Patent granting arms to the British Institute
of Radiology on a riverboat in the Thames."
Christopher Fletcher Vane is the brother of the present 2nd Baron Inglewood
