From The London Gazette of 23 April 2015: CROWN OFFICE  THE QUEEN has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 20 April 2015 to appoint Edward David Fursdon, Esquire, to be Lord-Lieutenant of and in the County of Devon.

He succ his uncle as head of the gentry family of FURSDON, of Fursdon, Devon, in 2007. He is s of Maj-Gen Francis William Edward FURSDON CB MBE OStJ (1925-2007), and Jean Rosemary d of Charles Archie WORRSAM OBE of Sevenoaks, Kent. He m 1978 (reg Q4 Northumberland) Catriona M (b 1955 reg Q1 Northumberland) d of Geoffrey Crichton/Chrichton McCREATH (1924-2002) of Bondington, Castle Terrace, Berwick-upon-Tweed by his 1952 m [reg Edinburgh ref 685/07 0122] to Margaret C H (b 1930 reg Q3 Cumberland) d of _ McWHIR and _ HOGG, and had issue:
1. Oliver Sydenham FURSDON (b 1980 reg Q4 Devon) heir to his father
2. Thomas Ellsworth FURSDON (b 1982 reg Q3 Devon)
3. Charles McCreath FURSDON (b 19 Dec 1986 - The Times 23 Dec)

George Hume John FURSDON (1920-2011), sometime head of that family of Fursdon, Devon. He m 1968 Christine Mary (1921-90) d of Hedley DUFFIELD (c1884 [reg Jan Cumberland]-1954) of Braithwaite, Cumberland, and Edith Winifred HOPKINS (1889-1962). No issue.
