This seems to be the first indication that the Earl of Rosslyn has been appointed Lord Steward in place of the Earl of Dalhousie

See the Court Circular of yesterday's date (22 February), which includes the following:

"The Earl of Dalhousie was received by The King this afternoon, delivered up his Wand of Office and took leave upon relinquishing his appointment as Lord Steward.

The Earl of Rosslyn was received by The King, kissed hands upon his appointment as Lord Steward and received from His Majesty his Wand of Office."

It seems quite surprising that Lord Dalhousie hasn't received any appointment within the Royal Victorian Order - I assumed he would have received at least a KCVO on retiring
