He was s of Gerald Ralph Auchinleck DARLING 1921-96 whom he succ as head of that Irish gentry family and Susan Ann d of Brig John Mervyn HOBBS OBE MC of W. Australia. He m 1st 1984 (div 1992, as her 1st h) Amanda Carolyn b 1966 d of Hon Richard Nicholas CROSSLEY 1932-2014 (s of 2nd Baron SOMERLEYTON 1889-1959) and Alexandra Anne Maitland 1938-90 d of Wing-Cdr Charles Donald Graham WELCH 1906-83 of Graffham, Sussex by his c1934 m reg Q1 Devon to Eleanor Mary SHARPE 1910-2009, and had a dau. He m 2nd 1994 Anne Lucinda b 1957 d of John Richard GREENWOOD 1926-2014 sometime head of that gentry family of Stone Hall and Penelope Anne b 1932 d of Sir Walter Raymond BURRELL 8th Bt 1903-85 and Hon Anne Judith DENMAN 1907-87 (d of 3rd Baron DENMAN 1874-1954 & gd of 1st Viscount COWDRAY 1856-1927 etc), and had a further dau.
